School’s over!! ^_^  Excellent.  We found out from Pista, on the last day of school, that Yu-Gi-Oh! Tournaments were gonna happen every week during the summer.  We didn’t go on the 23rd though, we already made plans to sit around for some good ol’ fashioned video game-age.  By the way, consider this my official endorsement for Enter the Matrix.  Anyway, Dave and Holly told me that they were going to their trailer that week, and, even after promising to do so, Chris wussed out, yet again… Wuss.  So I guess I’m going to this one on my own.

In preparation, I borrowed a couple cards from Dave’s deck, and practiced against Kevin from Kentucky over MSN Messenger.  Although I never beat him in a duel, I always found a way to defeat his Jinzo.  Also, he is sending me his Suijin in the mail in return for a game account I gave him.  Oh, and before I forget, I changed my Duelist ID to something more fitting my deck theme.  Tsunami Yami  Pretty clever, right? ^_^’’…

On to the tournament.  My record currently stands at 15-6-0.

TOTAL 47

Not much to report regarding changes to my deck.  I borrowed some of Dave’s cards, replacing my Trap Master with his Mystical Space Typhoon (shtoopid name), my Malavolent Nuzzler with his Axe of Despair, and just tossed in his Pot of Greed.  Suijin never belonged to me in the first place – I borrowed it from a friend’s brother who reclaimed it before this tournament.

Anyway, I got to the tournament and Pista wasn’t even there.  There were more people than ever before, about 12 O.o’’…  However, I had never dueled any of them before, except Shelby (remember her?).  There were these two adults who were mostly there for collecting, but they were really nice and taught some of the newbies how to build better decks.  When the first matchings were announced, I found I was up against one of them.

First Match – Kevin Miller vs. Dan the Collector (Light Deck, made that afternoon, but still with rare cards due to vast collection)

Duel 1

I was having trouble drawing monsters I could use while he beat away with Hysteric Fairies and Souls of Purity and Light.  I finally launched an attack, only to activate his Magic Cylinder, destroying myself.

0-8000

Duel 2

This time I got the Legendary Ocean/Tornado combo right away and so I set it up.  From there I had some fun with my Legendary Fisherman, Raigeki and Torrential Tribute cards on three different situations.  He eventually almost ran out of monsters, allowing my Fisherman to cause direct damage.

8000 - 0

Duel 3

This was essentially the same as the last duel, except I could not draw any of those fun cards.  My Mage Powered and United Amphibian Beasts did just as well though.

8000 – 0

I guess I taught this expert duelist and collector the annoying qualities of a true Water deck.  These guys like to get into the duelist’s head, and asked why I made a water deck.  I told them I built a water deck for the sake of making a themed deck. (I must have looked cool O.o’’)

Second Match – Kevin Miller vs. Dave, yes, yet another Dave (Stall/Responsive/Burn)

This was very weird.  He was running a stall/responsive deck, and my deck is also kind of a stall deck (because of the Legendary Ocean Tornado combo). During the first duel, I set up my combo and attacked all 12 of his Scapegoats one by one with my 7 Colored Fish.  Eventually I broke through and attacked until his defeat.  Duel 2 was his turn to stall.  He activated Messenger of Peace and Mask of Restrict.  I had to kill all those Scapegoats with Hayabusa Knight, Maryokutai, and Star Boy, causing his defeat.

Duel 1:  9900-0 (he couldn’t kill my Cure Mermaid until he got Dark Hole)

Duel 2:  8000-0

After this, Dave started talking to Ryan about my annoying Legendary Ocean Tornado combo.  I got put up against Ryan in Round 3.

Third Match – Kevin Miller vs. Ryan (I don’t even know)

This was over in five minutes.  I couldn’t get my combo, and he always had better monsters.  Dead.

Duel 1:  0-8000

Duel 2:  0-8000

I had a lot of time to kill before the next round, so I got new sleeves.  Tsunami Blue ^_^.  I watched the other adult collector get his opponent in a Yata-lock.  After this, he looked through my holos.  He found three cards he needed for his collection, my 1st Edition Yata-Garasu, Yamata Dragon, and even Toon Mermaid.  But at this point the final round was beginning.

Fourth Match – Kevin Miller vs. ??? (The kind of Standard Beatdown I hate most, the kind with rare cards and the evil Jinzo)

Well, he beat me in two duels, 7 Tools’d my Tornado Walls, etc.  But thanks to the practice I’ve had since my first tournament in Mississauga, and dueling Kevin online, I killed his Jinzo a total of five times.  I took pleasure in it too, because this guy must have never heard of duelist’s etiquette. Die, Jinzo!!

Duel 1:  0-8000

Duel 2:  0-7000

So the tournament actually ended an hour and a half after the store actually closes, due to the hugely long duels against Dave.  I didn’t make the top three, but I got to see some new kinds of decks, sold my Goblin Attack Force for $25, and lined up some good trades for next week.  My record is now 20-11-0.

Now for my rundown:

Props:

-Me beating experts and a guy who’s deck stalled worse than mine.

-The newbie kid who had his 60 card deck in hard protectors.  His deck was a foot tall!!

-Dave for lending me some cards.

-Not getting dead last.

-Not having to face Pista.

-Killing Jinzo 5 times and making him feel pain.

-Lining up some good trades.

-Kevin, for mailing me a Suijin.

Slops:

-Lack of Dave, Holly, Chris and Pista.

-Not knowing anyone.

-Losing terribly in last two rounds.

-Chris, being a wuss.

-Jinzo-guy, for being the rudest duelist ever.

Final Thoughts:

-I apologize for messing up the translation on Yata-Garasu.  Several people sent me emails regarding this.  It was called 8 Giant Crows, and the seven in the background were tearing a body to shreds.  Upper Deck censored this picture, and thus the name.  Thanks for this new information.

-My brother and a couple of his friends just became interested in playing Yu-Gi-Oh! And I am getting practice helping them build decks.

-I’m gonna build a Dark Necrofear deck – just for the hell of it.

-Why would Chris be afraid to come to a tournament? He would only be playing other newbies, and he really has nothing to lose.  He seems to think that he’s only gonna go if he’s gonna get first place.  Not gonna happen, but he might as well try.
