Assault Deck Matt Fillman Richard's Card Shop Santa Paula, CA February 2nd, 2003 # of Participants: 12 I finally got fed up with Card Destruction, since I'd always end up destructing something I need, so I replaced it with a Mystical Space Typhoon. I also swapped Nobleman of Crossout in place of Fissure. I removed Morphing Jar #2 since it was doin' me a lot more harm than good, so now my Deck is a perfect 40 cards. The Fiend Megacyber was really hurting my Deck, since I didn't have any mega-powerful monsters, so I switched it back with my Blue-Eyes White Dragon. Most of the regulars came back to the Tournament today, now that the Super Bowl was over. Just means more competition! He summoned a La Jinn and ended turn, so I used Snatch Steal and attacked him with his La Jinn and my Goblin Attack Force. He used Dark Hole and attacked me directly with Cannon Soldier, but I drew Change of Heart, used Premature Burial on my Goblin Attack Force, tributed his Cannon Soldier for Jinzo and ended the duel. Round 2 Me vs Ivan After waiting a while for the other matches to finish, Ivan and I finally got started. He set a monster, but I removed it with Nobleman of Crossout (it was Celtic Guardian!) and attacked him directly with Goblin Attack Force. He summoned Mystical Elf and destroyed my Goblins, but I brought out Gearfried the Iron Knight and destroyed his monster. I guess he didn't draw any more monsters, 'cause he set a couple of Magics/Traps and ended his turn. Luckily, I tributed my Gearfried the Iron Knight for Jinzo, used Monster Reborn to bring my Gearfried back, and finished him off. Semi-Finals Me vs Ted We were both disappointed that Pedro as the one who got a bye, but that just meant an easy victory for whoever won this duel. Anyway, I started off by setting my Cannon Soldier and Ceasefire. He set a Magic/Trap and a monster of his own, but I activated Ceasefire (it was a Sangan). I used Raigeki and tributed for Summoned Skull, but he used Waboku to protect his Life Points. He set his Cyber Jar and ended turn, so I used Nobleman of Crossout and attacked him directly. He drew Dark Hole without doing anything else, so I attacked his direct Life Points with Witch of the Black Forest. He didn't do anything else for a long while, so I kept attacking him with Witch of the Black Forest (it turned out he had nothin' but Barrel Dragons and Axes). Finally, I tributed for Jinzo, but he discarded Kuriboh to keep me from finishin' him off. He finally drew Snatch Steal and equipped it to my Jinzo, but I destroyed it with my set Mystical Space Typhoon. He set a monster instead, but I destroyed it with Tribute to the Doomed and finally won the duel! Final Round Me vs Pedro As predicted, this duel was easy. He set a Man-Eater Bug, but I used Tribute to the Doomed and attacked directly with Goblin Attack Force. He used Dark Hole and set a few Traps, which hindered me from attacking him with Gearfried the Iron Knight for a couple of turns. I finally drew Raigeki and attacked his Life Points with two Gearfried the Iron Knights and a Cannon Soldier. He set one Trap Card and ended turn, so I summoned Kuriboh (yeah, yeah) and attacked.... right into his Mirror Force. He drew Goblin Attack Force and attacked my Life Points directly, but I equipped his Goblins with Snatch Steal, tributed for Jinzo and won the duel! ----- This week, I got to pick an Ultra Rare as a prize, and I almost immediately wanted Barrel Dragon. I would've preffered Buster Blader, but there wasn't one available. Luckily, Ted traded one of his Barrel Dragons and happened to have a Buster Blader, so he was interested in mine. I was kinda hesitant to trade, but he threw in $8.00, so that selaed the deal. I'm gonna need as much money as I can get for Labyrinth of Nightmare! Pros for the Weekend -trading for Mystical Space Typhoon and Nobleman of Crossout -winning the Tournament -getting Barrel Dragon -trading Barrel Dragon for Buster Blader and $8.00 -almost to Labyrinth of Nightmare! Cons for the Weekend -can't think of any.... That covers the Tournament for this weekend. As always, if anyone has any questions or suggestions, feel free to E-Mail me at mfillman125@msn.com anytime!
