Pojo Killer Decks: A Tourney Report Location: Sentry Box, Calgary Alberta Entries: 16 (there was also a seperate unoffical tourney for little kids, and people who couldn't afford to pay $10) Tourney Type: Single Elimination Date: Feb 26, 2003 Entry Fee: $10 Canadian Prizes: 1st place gets 3 assorted boosters and 2 Tourney Packs 2nd place gets 2 assorted boosters and 1 Tourney Pack Everyone who enters gets a Tourney Pack My Brother and me entered this tourney. Both of us had radically re-designed our decks. Here is the deck I played with. It has no Mirror Force, because I lent mine to my brother for his burner (with lots of Graveyard recursion). And my Jinzo was stolen recently so replacing it is another SS. Finally, Sujin is in there because I can't find my Sanga of the Thunder and I don't have a Barrel Dragon... -=SkyLights=- 52 Cards Total (too many, but, I'm working on testing it... and I like Reverse Trap) ==================== 25 Monsters ==================== 1 Sujin 2 Summoned Skull 3 La Jinn 3 7 Colo(u)red Fish - I have to be Canadian, it's my job, eh? 2 Harpie's Brother 2 Mysitic Tomato 1 Mask of Darkness 2 Magicain of Faith 1 Man-Eater Bug - I couldn't get annother in time, my bro had 3 in his 1 Sangan 1 Witch of the Black Forrest 2 Hayabusa Knight 3 Flash Assailent 1 Cyber Jar ==================== 17 Magic ==================== 1 Exchange 1 Pot of Greed 1 Dark Hole 1 Raigeki 1 Card Destruction 1 Premature Burial 1 Snatch Steal 1 Change of Heart 1 Monster Reborn 1 Swords of Revealing Light 1 Fissure 1 Tribute to the Doomed - I like it, I'll go buy annother one... 1 Nobleman of Crossout 2 Heavy Storm 2 Malevolent Nuzzlers ==================== 10 Traps ==================== 1 Magic Jammer 1 Solemn Judgment 1 Magic Drain 3 Trap Hole 1 Call of the Haunted 3 Reverse Trap Looking over my deck in this format, I see what needs to be changed for next time. But I did do well this time. Let's check out the Pre-Tourney Scene. PRE-TOURNEY STUFF: Well, if anyone was wondering what I got in my tourney pack I'll tell you... Nothing but commoons...! However, my brother pulled Exile of the Wicked. It was the last card Tim (best player) needed to finish his set of TP2 so we traded him. He offered us just about any card in the game (except MechChaser, Morphing Jar, Jinzo, and Exodia Pieces). I felt a stong pull towards the Tri-Horn Dragon, but decided to get something to help my deck. It was Imperial Order or Swords of Revealing Light... I went with Swords because we could trade for a IO more easily (though they sell for the same amount at the card shop). On to the Tourney! TOURNEY: 1st Round! Slavik81 (me) Vs Tim (Beatdown with GAFs, Axes, and Hayabusa Knights) I was worried about this... I knew I shouldn't have been the first person to sign up after Tim.... Fortunetly, my brother was in annother bracket. Duel 1: Me 8000->4500->0 Him 8000->3800->4800->600->1600 Ouch... a painful beating with Hayabusa Knights and GAFs... Then he put jinzo out... I quickly Snatch Stealed him and beat him down several times in conjuction wtih a couple of Harpies and La Jinn... When I had him at only about 2000 LP, he Change of Hearted his Jinzo, Raigekied, then played a La Jinn. He hit me for 200 more LP than I had. I was even ready for him raigeking me. I sat there with my Monster Reborn hoping he would kill the Jinzo so I could Monster Reborn it... Duel 2: Me 8000->7200 Him 8000->7900->3000->0 Heh, heh, heh... I win! You should be more carful when you play Jinzo. SS is still more powerful. Especially when your opponent has Monster Reborn in their hands. Then it's even worse if they have Raigeki in their hands... Duel 3: Me 8000->2000 Him 8000->0 Well, this was fast! I set Trap Hole and Reverse Trap. He Heavy Stormed, and I knew what was comming next. But I didn't want to scare him away by activating Reverse Trap. He played Dark Hole and Hayabusa Knight. He then played 2 Axes... I Snatch Stealed and played my Flash Assailent. I set all the cards in my hand and attacked... He told me he had Magic Jammer and let me win because he didn't care, he just didn't want to loose 15 points for not going to a tourney and I helped him finish his set. I told him I had Change of Heart... 2nd Round! Slavik81 (me) Vs Little Kid(Playing straight beatdown, like me) I wasn't worried about this... This kid had no chance at all... Well, I made sure he had a slight chance, but they were both unremarkable duels. He signed up with 4 friends and so they all faced each other in the 1st round. (not all of them, 2 went on, 2 were gone) Duel 1: Me 8000->6600 Him 8000->5500->1200->0 Well, it just goes to show you that playing 7 Coloured Fish with a Nuzzler is not a good opening move... I Snatch Stole and tributed for SS... He laid one monster face down, but I Nobleman of Crossouted. Bye-bye Man-Eater Bug... Play Harpie's Brother and attacked. He sets a monster and a MT... I attack. He flips Waboku and his Magician of Faith flips. He gets his Nuzzler back. He Change of Hearts my SS, plays Nuzzler and attacks my Harpie's Bro, he then sets a monster. I Heavy Storm, Raigeki, and and attack for the win. Duel 2: Me 8000 Him 8000->6900->4000->0 First he prohibits Jinzo as his opening move. I tell him I don't have Jinzo. So he prohibits Ax of Dispair. I tell him I don't have that. So he prohibits SS... (I was set up just to play it soon too). I say no matter and Summon the Witch of the Black Forrest (he didn't summon). I end and he draws. He then plays a new prohibtion and prohibits Heavy Storm. I summon Harpie's Bro and attack. He sets a monster. I draw SS. I play Card Destruction after seting Monster Reborn, TttD and Premature Burial. Fun, he had a SS in his hand too. I bring back both Summoned Skulls and Tribute to the Doomed his set monster. Game. Set. Match 3rd Round! Slavik81 (me) Vs Rob (Similar to Tim, just slightly worse and with a tinge of Burner) I knew I was gone when I saw the hand I got. One Harpie's bro... 5 Magics, in the First Duel... Duel 1: Me 8000->6200->0 Him 8000->5300->2200 This was one I don't remember well. After he won the tourney, I played about 10 duels with him so most are intermingled. I know I got slaghtered and I drew 5 Magics and Harpie's Bro. Let's just say that when he sacked his used GAFs for Barrel Dragon and Jinzo, I lost... Though in the begining I did a lot of damage... gotta love Hayabusa... Duel 2: Me 8000->4000->2200->0 Him 8000->5400->6600->3200->4200 Second turn he plays Jinzo. I cringe as I Solemn Judgement it. Later I Snatch Steal his Barrel and get a pair of attacks at LP, before he Imperial Orders it. He had to pay, he couldn't afford not to. I sat there with Raigeki, Nobleman of Crossout, Tribute to the Doomed, and Swords of Revealing Light in my hand as he slaughered me... WRAPING UP: Good Tourney overall. My brother got to the Semi-Finals same as me, and Rob won the tourney. Good Job Rob! I faced the other Finalist that my brother lost to and I whooped the guy. Of course it didn't help that the guy drew 2 monsters in the second duel... Now for the Props and Slops Props: To my bro for pulling Exile of the Wicked To Tim for finishing his set To me for buying Jinzo (For $30 Can) when I was just about finished this report To all the people I dueled To me and my brother for comming in 3rd and 4th To Matt for winning the UnOfficial Tourney that was going on at the same time Slops: Well, to me for forgeting that Tri-Horned Dragon sells for $40... But they already had too many of them and wouldn't trade for one (usually they will trade for cards of equal value) To anyone that hates me personally and wants to injure my entire family because of it Send Comments, hate mail and profanity to Slavik81_@hotmail.com See ya next week! ~Slavik81
