Free Tournament

Day 1: Triple Elimination (allowed three lost)

120 participants

It was a clear day; we arrived around 10:30. After we registered, decided to walk around the show to see any good prospects for trading. After that we were looking for familiar faces, but didn’t see anyone for a while. Serf the one who told us about the tourney said he would show, but was nowhere to be seen.

Day 1: 6 rounds, triple elimination

Dark Deck Rookie, forgot his name.

This guy had a big mouth, I don’t mean like talking crap big mouth. He was just plain loud as a mofo. He ran a rookie dark deck with mystic plasma zone and basic beatdown dark monsters. Ended 2-0

Round 2: Me (Kevo Kaiba) vs. Henry ?? (Heavy Pimple Face Guy)

He ran a magic heavy deck and eliminated my field. I managed to stall for a while and won one match but lost it in the end.0-1-0

With my first lost in the tourney my self-esteemed went down and wasn’t sure if the show will go on.

Round 3: Me (Kevo Kaiba) vs. Allen (rookie with 60 card deck)

He ran a rookie beatdown and just threw every card he thought would help like shield and sword and other random stuff. I won this easily 2-0.  After the lost he asked to look at his deck. I was feeling generous so I cut his deck from 60 to 43. It wasn’t great but it was a vast improvement.

Round 4: Me (Kevo Kaiba) vs. ???

I don’t remember so it most have been good, on to the next round.

Round 5: Me (Kevo Kaiba) vs. Beatdown with magical hats and masked sorcerer

This guy I had a hard time with, mass monster removal with effect attackers such has hats.  But man the look on his face was dead serious. He beat the first round making it theoretically making it harder to win 2 in a row. Well I won but it wasn’t easy. The last round I was put down to 1800 and one hit away from losing, but I somehow cleared his field and got set up and my clowns took him. I even heard someone in the crowd “it was the biggest yugioh comeback ever!!!” Okay guy sure thing.

Round 6: Me (Kevo Kaiba) vs. Mokuba (LiL brother)

When I saw the posting I was like hell naw, be koo. We just ended up putting a draw because you still get a point for a draw thus, still moving on.

That’s is the end of day one. How can only 6 rounds last 5 hours!!! Went home to knock out on the bed.

Day 2:

The second day was the top 64 of the previous day. Today it was a single elimination, today was the day it counted.  Everyone literally had three nimbos in their decks. You can see people made changes as they were warming up to play for keeps.

Round 1: Me (Kevo Kaiba) vs. No one

The person I had to play didn’t show up. So I ended up getting a by like at world of books.

Round 2: Me (Kevo Kaiba) vs. SF dude, Garret I think that was his name?

Ran standard beat down with hayabusa knight.  He took me on the run when he beat me the first round within 6 turns. I admit I was feeling like this is gonna be impossible to win. The second two went similar, got set up and jammed his heavy storms. 0-1-1

Round 3:Me (Kevo Kaiba) vs. Forgot Name or where he was from.

He had watched me play the round before and said that he was ready for my deck, I said sure okay. First duel almost decked out with three cards left and him one card left. Gravity Bind stalled him and practically stopped him from doing anything. 2-0

Round 4: Me (Kevo Kaiba) vs. Devin

Out of all the people that made it I hoped it didn’t have to be him.  He was one of the players from SJ and became good buddies.

First I Imperial Order through out the game making his magic useless and the Jokers took control and left him with no options. Second went different I trapped hole most his monsters leaving his field empty for attacks. 2-0

Round 5: Semi-Finals Me (Kevo Kaiba) vs. Nick (#1 from Space Cats San Jose)

First round I got him to 450 he came back with snatch steal taken my clown. Second he got me to 500 and came back because he had nothing to protect him and he used up everything.  Last round he destroyed me within 4 turns, I won’t discuss how he did it, but if your really curious e-mail me.

Final Round for 3rd or 4th Placement

Me (Kevo Kaiba) vs. Patrick (Old dude)

This guy literally beat himself up after he loses. I used imperial order twice on him during both rounds, when he loses he kept smacking his head and you could hear, and this from a 26 year old. I was dang man it’s only a game.

Ended the weekend third out of 120, winning 150-prizefighter money.

After thoughts, it was fun long weekend would do it again if had the chance.

Wassup to Kforce1: Mokuba, Jeff (Bandit Keif), Geraldine (PianyMai), Alan (Shezar Bakura), Ching (Joey), Daivd (Blue Eyes), and Andy (gotta make one up)

To SJ players Eugene, Devin and Nick, mad props to you guys.
