From: To: Subject: Re: Burns of Failure - Dylan Hayes - J&R cards and Comics - Brunswick MAINE Date: Tuesday, April 01, 2003 3:49 PM Burns of Failure Dylan Hayes J & R Cards and Comics Brunswick, ME 3/29/03 People who showed up: 45-60ish Rank as of 3/26/03 Country: 57th overall East: 25th overall Maine: 1st overall Well, here is my deck: Monsters: x3 Nimble Momanga x3 Cannon Soldier x3 Fire Princess x3 Magician of Faith x2 Dream Clown x1 Sangan x1 Witch of the Black Forest x1 Cyber Jar x3 Marie the Fallen One (20) Magic Cards: x2 Messenger of Peace x2 Mystical Space Typhoon x2 Scapegoat x2 Graceful Charity x1 Pot of Greed x1 Raigeki x1 Change of Heart x1 Dark Hole x1 Monster Reborn x1 Painful Choice x1 Swords of Revealing Light x1 Giant Trunade (16) Trap Cards: x3 Gravity Bind x1 Mirror Force x1 Imperial Order x1 Magic Cylinders x1 Ceasefire x1 Torrential Tribute x1 Solemn Judgment (9) My deck focuses on burner the opponents LP away. I can do it by clearing the field with dream clowns and then taking down LP, launching monsters with Cannon Soldier, or Burning and Healing from Marie the Fallen one and Fire Princess. Keep in mind MTFO is very easy to get into the graveyard ; I have a painful choice in my deck. Graceful Charity also helps it go to the graveyard. I needed to win this tournament. Not only did I want to prove burners ownz, I also wanted to be the first to own with it. And here is the report: Round 1 [Burns of Failure] vs. [ Relinq-down] Robert Well, this decks are everywhere now. Beatdown with a side of relinquished. Not fun. 1st round: I took it too him early with a first turn gravity bind. He then eventually MSTed it and attacked with his only monster. I magic Cylindered, and he passed. I played Messenger of Peace and my discarded Maries were covering the cost of LP. I had three Maries in the graveyard and three Fire Princesses on the field. It was over for him. 2nd round: Very close. It drew nothing but monsters in my opening hand. So I proceeded on thinning out as quickly as possible. I used momangas for extra defense. I then drew a messenger of Peace and played it. He MSTed it, and I predicted he would attack my cyber jar. Instead, he summoned relinquished, and absorbed CJ. He attacked with his other monsters, and lowered my health to 300. This next draw decided it all. Gravity Bind. I faked out. I pretended to be mad at my draw, looked through my hand, rearranged it, moving my gravity bind around, and set my GB. He attacked very confidently, without any patience. Activated GB. With my three Marie the fallen ones, I reborned a Fire Princess and ended the game. In between rounds: Well, that was fun. I helped the person working today with the tournament a little, and waited for my next match. Round 2 [Burns of Failure] vs. [???] SOMEONE! He said he had to leave, so I got a round win :\ . Round 3 [Burns of Failure] vs. [Beatdown] Eric 1st round I really don’t remember much of these rounds. I know I won one, he won one, and I won the next. Round 4 [Burns of Failure] vs. [Relinq-down] Brad I knew this deck was a lot better than the one I dueled earlier today, and this guy was my best friend. 1st match We drew. He went first. Summoned, passed. I set a GB, summoned a Dream Clown, and passed. He attacked, fell into a GB. Summoned, passed. I changed GB to defense mode killing his attack monster, summoned a cannon soldier, and ended. He drew and played MST, killing my GB, killed both my monsters. With two graceful charities, I sent three Marie the fallen ones and a Dream Clown to my grave. I summoned Fire Princess, set one m/t, and played messenger of peace. He MSTed the messenger of peace, and attacked all out. I activated Mirror Force. Then, I locked him. But, he locked me, with a skull lair. We were both gaining LP insanely (he had solemn wishes) and I couldn’t summon a monster without skull lair killing it, so I set them. Because of the two graceful charities I played, I eventually decked. 2nd match This one went rather quick. I sent three Maries to the grave, and summoned two fire princess, with a SORL providing my protection. 3rd match Like the second one, it also went quick. I did most of my burning with a Cannon Soldier this turn. We shook hands, and that was that. Or was it? We both went outside to celebrate the match by blowing up and popping up paper bags. Damn they are loud. I watched some matches that would prelude to my match, and I finally got to go against my rival: Round 5 (SEMI-FINALS) [Burns of Failure] vs. [Expensive Beatdown] TOLBY! This deck isn’t just a beat down with your Starter deck staples. It had the foil ones, and not only that, 2 Gemini Elves and a Mechanical Chaser. Chaser or no Chaser, I was determined to win this tournament. 1st round I got a god hand. I seriously mean god. I ended the match in a second turn blitz. But, the match went like this. I set a Nimble, he attacked. I then set a cannon soldier, and a Gravity Bind. He summoned a wall of illusions, and attacked. I activated Magic Cylinders against his Gemini Elf, and gravity Bind against his Wall. I then MSTed his only m/t. I summoned a Dream Clown. I played Raigeki, MSTed my own GB, and attacked for 1200+1000+1000+1400= 4600+1900 (cylinder) = 6500. Cannon Soldier Sacrificed the rest. 2nd round: I locked him into a fire princess burn, and he never drew his way out of the burning. paper bag. Sweet. I was into the finals. I went outside for awhile, and fooled around with my friends. I went inside and watched precluding matches. Round 6 (FINALS) [Burns of Failure] vs. [OBLITERATE!] Zach Well, this was an exodia deck. I already saw his deck beat a burner, but I was confident. Of course, a finals consisting of two burners could really get people’s attention. 1st round This kid was like 8, but he knew good ways around the ropes. He had a great deck, and knew how to run it properly, but not to an advanced level. He never considered suiciding his witch and sangans, or which card to pick when I painful choiced. When I did, he did not pick Marie the fallen one and ended up losing to a burn. 2nd round Oh, I remembered how this match ended. I had a Marie the Fallen one in the graveyard, a Fire Princess on the field, and a Cannon Soldier, and a magician set. He had 3600 Left. Here is how it went: Lost 500 from Fire Princess Flipped Magician, got back [Magic Card (I’m not telling)] Sacrificed Magician and Fire Princess, lowered his health to 2100. Activated [Magic card] Okay, it was Scapegoat :P Sacrificed for 2000, lowering his health to 100. Oh no, what to do? I know! Sacrificed cannon Soldier for the remaining 500. Yay! I ended up winning. Everyone was like, weird, why did he play gravity bind. Well, it’s not weird now! Props: -My friend for beating my brother, which was VERY surprising -Robert, who was playing a burner as well, which was more launch based, where mine was healing and launch based -Dustin, for taking his loss to Brad very well. -Anybody there who also played DBZ -Dustin, for letting me use the Solemn Judgment Slops: -Joel, where were you… -Uhh, nowhere else Any comments please be directed to: TripleH353@aol.com P.S. I’m ready for anyone who wants to play from Zimmies, just bring it!
