I collect Yu-Gi-Oh cards and my friend got into it too, and he’s something I’d like to call… spoiled. Newayz, he told me to make him a deck and he’d go buy it off the Internet, which I did. And then he was a little scared to play in the tournament without my help, so I just played in it for him, so here’s the deck- Monsters (21) 3 Relinquished 2 Summoned Skull 2 La Jinn 3 Man-Eater Bug 2 Hane-Hane 2 Magician of Faith 2 Dark Elf 2 7 Colored Fish 3 Sonic Bird (let’s u search for a ritual card) Magic/Traps (27) 1 Ragieki 1 Change of Heart 2 Swords Of Revealing Light 1 Pot of Greed 2 Waboku 2 Axe of Dispare 1 Monster Reborn 2 Fissure 2 Trap Hole 1 Heavy Storm 2 Magic Jammer 2 7 Tools 2 Solemen Judgment 1 Card Destruction 1 Soul Exchange 3 Black Illusion Ritual I know what ur thinking, “u have more magic/traps than monsters!” yeah I know, but the main idea of this deck is to hold off the opponent while you get a firm offense going. Use swords to let them bring out their ultimate beast and not have ur field disturbed while you get the ritual in order, then BAM! Absorb with relinquished! Then wave good-bye to those life points! Protect relinquished with Magic Jammer and cards like that just in case, never put him on the field without anti trap/magic cards waiting in the wings. I would use more Magic Ruler cards, but I have no idea how to use them in any good combos yet. And the cards he got off the Internet came in the day of the tourney, so I didn’t get a chance to test it out. But it still worked out for the best, here’s how it went: 1st Round- Me V.S. Exodia Deck Duel One- By the look on his face on the first draw, he drew all 5 pieces, but thankfully he didn’t. I realized my stalling with swords was helping him draw out the pieces, so I started to really go at his life points, but he kept countering with traps, at last I had him down with about 700 LP left, and his last swords ran out, and all he had to play was an exodia piece, so he did it knowing he’d lose, so I absorbed the piece w/relinquished and won the first round. Duel Two- I played card destruction on the first turn, as soon as he saw the card he forfeited, go figure! 2nd Round- Me V.S. No Magic deck Duel One- He didn’t have ONE magic card in the whole deck, it’s a Joey Novice all over again, I creamed him no prob! Duel Two- Like I said above, creamed him! Quarterfinals- Me V.S. Derek (this guy’s a big jerk, and he’s got a dirty mouth to match his attitude) Duel One- I respect Jiari Gumo players, but I tried not to crack a rib when he attacked my Man-Eater on his first turn and lost 4000 LP. He did the classic Lod FoSD combo to bring out Tri-Horned and Blue Eyes and cleared the field of my used Hane-Hane and used Sonic Bird. I had Dark Elf, Axe of Dispare, Black Illusion Ritual, and La Jinn in my hand, and those are pretty useless at a time like this, I tried to use the heart of the cards, but these weren’t my cards, so all I drew was a change of heart. He played a WoTBF face up and attacked my LP directly after he wiped out my face down dark elf, I thought I was DEAD. After that “great” move of his he called over his friend and ranted on about how he just took away most of my LP in one turn, they both laughed out loud in they’re own jerky way, but then I drew my card, and it was in fact…. RELINQUISHED! I played change of heart on his Tri-Horned, then played my La Jinn and used them for the ritual to bring out Relinquished, I absorbed Blue Eyes and smeared his WoTBF, he drew a useless card and I wiped him out next turn. Duel Two- (I took a dragon capture out of my side deck and put it in my deck cuz he is a strong dragon duelist) My first hand was perfect- Relinquished, Sonic Bird, Ritual card, Change of Heart, 7 Tools. He went first and put out La Jinn and 2 magic/traps face down. I drew axe of dispare and put my plan into action. I played 7 tools and Sonic Bird out on the field to get another ritual card, then I played that ritual card to summon relinquished, but he played magic jammer, OH NO! Not! I played my second ritual card and he flipped over his second magic jammer, but I flipped over my 7 tools and I finally got relinquished out. I powered up my absorbed La Jinn with my axe and attacked him directly with him and sonic bird. He kept on playing face down defense monsters, I could tell he didn’t get any good cards cuz every time he drew I heard a new curse word. Finally he got out blue eyes and red eyes (red eyes was equipped with axe of dispare) with only 2400 LP left, he wasted my precious relinquished and left me with about 6000 LP. I had a ritual card, another relinquished, Man-Eater Bug in my hand, I drew soul exchange and said “How interesting…” in a very scary voice (at least that’s what my friend said after the duel). I played man-eater face up and he looked dumbfounded at such an “amateur” move, but then I played soul exchange on his Blue Eyes and did my ritual, I absorbed his powered up Red Eyes and wiped him out. You know what, it was kinda fun watching a 16 year old kid cry and scream at his mom for not buying him good enough cards… Semifinal Match Me V.S. Tim (super genius guy, I talked to him before the match and he was really cool, I think he knows the game better than the creators) Duel One- He brought out Barrel Dragon with Axe of Despair in the first few turns, but funny enough… I got my relinquished out on the turn after. I absorbed his barrel dragon and took a chunk out of his life points. I was so ticked when he drew Change of heart and took a big chunk out of MY life points. I placed a man-eater face down and took out the 7 colored fish he had just played w/his absorbed barrel dragon. He flipped over ultimate offering, played a mon, used soul exchange on my oh so precious relinquished to bring out his Blue Eyes, and to make it worse he played an Axe with it. He wiped me out in the next few turns. Duel Two- He didn’t draw any monsters, so I ended it quickly before he could. Not much to say about this duel. Duel Three- We traded blows the first few turns, and after some intense dueling we were both at 1000 LP, it was anybody’s game to the finals. I played a La Jinn with an Axe and destroyed his face down magician of faith. He got out monster reborn and brought back his Blue Eyes, he killed my La Jinn and left me with 800 LP. I got my relinquished ritual in order and absorbed his Blue Eyes to win the duel. PHEW! I’m onto the finals. Finals Me V.S. Joey (he was dressed just like Joey, green jacket and messed up blonde hair, he was also wearing a dueling glove he must’ve made at home, of course he had 10 stars chips on it. He was a very serious duelist, he was really cool, cooler than Tim) Duel One-I didn’t really think he would choose the same deck type as Joey, and I was right, it almost the opposite. It was a zombie deck based around Pumking The King of Ghosts. I didn’t think that kind of deck would make it to the finals, but after playing it, I know why he made it this far. I knocked out one of his castles in the early going before he could get Pumking out, but he battled back and took some heavy hits as well. I won the first duel because he just couldn’t get anything going. Duel Two- He managed to get 2 castles face down and 2 La Jinn’s out of the field. I had nothing but crap cards in my hand, nothing I could do anything with. Then the next turn he flipped over Ultimate offering and played 2 Pumking’s and he flipped over both of his castles as well, and he even powered one up to 3100/2300 with an axe of despair. I tried to fend off his huge attacks, but soon enough he had a 3700 ATK Pumking and all I had was a face down dark elf. He won the second duel brilliantly. Third and Final Duel for the Winner-2 words- sheer brilliance! He let me dominate the whole match; I thought I had him totally beat when the score was 7000LP (me) to 1500LP (him). Then he suddenly went on the attack, it totally caught me off guard. He brought out 2 Pumking’s with 2 castles again, and then he gave one an axe of despair and the other 2 megamorphs! I was like “WOAH MY GOODNESS!” I didn’t even know he had a megamorph in his deck until that very moment. He used ragieki and blew me away. It was a great match, tons of people were watching, there were constant “ooo’s” and “aahhh’s” at our fascinating moves. Tournament Summary There were a ton of people competing there, I don’t know the exact number of people though. First place got $50 store credit and any 10 boosters he wanted, he had a choice of Metal Raiders, Magic Ruler, or 1st ed Magic rulers. Second place got $25 store credit and any 7 boosters he wanted that were left over from 1st places choice. 3rd and 4th got any 5 left over boosters they wanted. I got the boosters and I gave my friend the $25 store credit, and he bought me a Cyber Jar. I got Karate Man, Blue Eyes Toon Dragon, Toon World, Ameba, Maha Valio, Confiscation, and Giant Rat all 1st ed from the boosters. I was pretty satisfied with the way things went, the deck certainly paid off, I had to give it back to my friend and I think he still doesn’t know what he’s doing, so he probably won’t win too many duels with it on his own. I traded a lot with most of the people there to help improve my own deck, I plan to make a Pumking deck of my own.
