Subject: Operation: YamiNoir Beatdown Deck, Zack Dzwonkiewicz, Vintage Stock, Springdale Deck: Operation: YamiNoir Beatdown Name: Zack Location: Vintage Stock in Springdale, Arkansas, 72758 THE RULES Well here we go! My heart pounded when I first got there. My first ever Yu-Gi-Oh Official Duelist League Tournament! It was a $5 entry fee, single elimination. Everyone got a Tournament pack for winning, but all the good awards go to the top 3. There were about 30 people there. So, without further ado... THE DECK My deck, Operation: YamiNoir Beatdown, is pretty simple. Noir is French for Black, and Yami is a card that powers up evil in the card game. My deck's purpose is to get out a Dark Magician (luck of the draw) or Summoned Skull (By my two Witch of the Black Forests) I then equip them with all kinds of crazy power-ups and proceed to destroy my opponent. MONSTERS La Jinn the Mystical Genie of the Lamp x2 (Brute Power) Labyrinth Wall (Great Defensive, just as good as Wall Shadow) Dark Magician (Theme of Darkness, works with power-ups) Man-Eater Bug x2 (Every Deck's best friend) Ryu-Kishin Powered x2 (Pretty good, goes with theme) Big Eye (Good if used properly, helps with mt/monster ratio) Witch of the Black Forest x2 (Summoned Skull staple card) Wall of Illusion (Nice effect, put considering removal) Neo the Magic Swordsman (I know, goes against the theme. I'm going to take it out) Giant Soldier of Stone x2 (See Labyrinth Wall) Judge Man (Used to manipulate my opponent's popular Sogen) 7 Colored Fish (See La Jinn) Battle Steer (No one else likes it, but it's saved my butt) Summoned Skull (C'mon, please tell me you understand) Fire Kraken (See Battle Steer) TOTAL MONSTERS: 21 MAGIC Yami x2 (Two because it powers almost every one of my cards) Dian Keto the Cure Master (My best friend) Sword of Deep Seated x2 (Great boost) Dark Energy x2 (Works entirely with my deck) Dark Hole (Obvious) Ookazi (Great card) Book of Secret Arts (Dark Magician and Neo) Sword of Dark Destruction x2 (Theme) Monster Reborn (Obvious) Change of Heart (Pesky defense monsters) Fissure x2 (Nice card) Malevolent Nuzzler (An awesome card. Way too unde - ) Rush Recklessly (For attacking face-down monsters) Soul Exchange (My other best friend) Paralyzing Potion (Staple for any deck) MAGIC TOTAL: 22 TRAPS Trap Hole x2 (Obvious) Just Desserts (Too good) TRAP TOTAL: 3 DECK TOTAL: 46 MAGIC/TRAP to MONSTER RATIO: 25/21 I know it's a little bulky, but I'm gonna carve it down a little. Now.. THE TOURNAMENT Round One Zack (Operation: YamiNoir Beatdown) VS Max (A Fire-based Beatdown Deck with a LOT of cards!) Sorry! I forgot my pen and paper, so I couldn't take Life Point notes, but I'll get them next time. MATCH ONE The first Match went quick enough. I ended up winning by using Change of Heart to attack himself with his Megamorphed Blue Eyes White Dragon (BEWD) AND my Sword of Dark Destruction/Sword of Deep-Seated/Malevolent Nuzzler Summoned Skull. MATCH TWO This Match was much harder. He used Tremendous Fire on me THREE TIMES! The third would have really hurt me, but, the Heart of the Cards granted me a Dian Keto the Cure Master! Anyway, I powered up my Summoned Skull (again) to about 3600 and blew him away for the duel. After the duel, I traded him my Messanger of Peace for a Dark Energy, Sword of Dee-Seated AND Paralyzing Potion, which I slid into my deck ^^ Round Two Zack (Opertaion: YamiNoir Beatdown) VS Kyle (Some kid with an immense deck that followed no real strategy) MATCH ONE What?! I made it to round two?! Top 15 in my first tourney, cool! I only came to play, not to win. But this guy was way too easy. The only real good move he made was playing Molten Destruction and Little Chimera with his Flame Cerebrus. Too bad I powered up yet another Summoned Skull MATCH TWO This one actually had me a little worried. I got him down to 2700LP with my Summoned Skull (Yet again :P) but he Cyber Jarred me and all I got was power-ups. He played (due to the Cyber Jar effects) a Great White. Next turn I drew... a Cahnge of Heart! So, I used Change of Heart on his Great White, handed it a Sword of Deep Seated, Melevolently Nuzzled him, and slapped on a Rush Wrecklessly, and that was game! Round Three Zack (Operation: YamiNoir Beatdown) VS Rick (The Best guy there) After I won, the judge told me "You'll fight the winner of that match" I look where he's pointing, and it's Rick, the best guy ever, versus Pat, the second best. Well, I ended up facing Rick. Here's how it went down. MATCH ONE He Solemn Judgemented my Ryu-Kishin Powered, then used Ultimate Offering to get Jirai Gumo and 7 Colored Fish to blow me in half. He crushed me later, about 6500-0 MATCH TWO See above! I forgot, BOTH MATCHES, about my Trap Hole! After the match, I opened my Tournament Pack and got.. a Mechanicalchaser! (I think... that guy with four stars and 2200 attack) Well, Rick (Who ended up being really nice, and even helped me fix up my deck) traded me. I got a holographic Solemn Judgement, a holographis 7 Tools of the Bandit, and two Summoned Skulls! ALL of those were the cards I wanted! I know, I probably should have saved it, but I needed those cards for my deck, and he was really nice. Well, first tourney and I came in top 8 (I left soon after, so I don't know EXACTLY how I placed, but if Rick won, I got 5th.) PROPS: To my dad for bringind me and paying my admission fee To Vintage Stock For hosting To Max and Rick for the good trades To Rick for being so cool To me, for doing so well my first tourney SLOPS To that annoying kid who tried to cheat To Vintage Stock for disqualifying my friend Raif because he forgot to take ONE Japanese card out of his deck! To Rick for being so lucky with Magician of Faith and Solemn Judgement See ya next week! Name: Zack E-Mail: skarmory@cox-internet.com Duelist Number: LampOfLaJinn
