I pulled Solemn Judgement a few days ago and added it, because I lacked counter traps. A little experimentation (is that even a word?) went into this week's deck. I increased the monster count to 20, so that my ration was 1:1. I added a masked sorcerer for card drawing, a dark elf for some power, and a third man-eater bug that I traded for just minutes before the tournament began. I took some monster removal out from the main deck to make room for the monsters. I had quite a bit already, so I don't think it affected me much. After the tournament was over, I managed to trade for a Heavy Storm, a Hane-Hane, 2 Dark Elfs, and a last Will. I might switch out giant trunade, 2x 7 Coloreds, 1x Sangan, and Waboku for next week. It depends on how I feel then. Alot of the top ranked players showed up today. Some were missing, but I'm glad there were less inexperienced players this time. All my pairings were against good players, and none of them were new or didn't have much play skill, so I had alot of fun, challenging duels. We drew numbers for first round. There was a buy every round I think. I drew Colby, the same guy I have played the very first round twice before. He was also ranked #2, and I was #3...so this was very interesting. Again, I had hoped to play him later in the tournament, for his sake. I ended up passing his points and am now ahead of him by 100+. Michael, the #1 ranked, is still about 500 points ahead of me. Round 1: Me vs. Colby Colby's deck was a beatdown deck, using some dark powerups like Witch Apprentice and Mystic Plasma Zone. We had a fun duel, often messing around with each other. In the end, I won, but it weird because of all the commotion we made. The first duel, he played Gravekeepers servant early, so I lost alot of good cards, like dark hole, and change of heart. He puts his 7 Tools to good use, countering my trap holes and magic jammers. Cyber jar shows up, and he gets a handful of magic/traps, while i get 3 good monsters. All he can do is sit back and watch as I attack his open field and win. the second duel, he startd strong, knocking me down low. Solemn judgement puts me down even lower, as I try to counter his cyber jar, but he uses 7 Tools on it (grrr, this is why i dont like Solemn Judgement). We were both down to about 2000 LP. Cyber Jar gave me 2 monsters, and 1 in hand because of Sangan. I revealed it to him as Princess of Tsurugi and put it in my hand. He ended his turn, and I lay down a monster face down and end my turn. By now, his field is full of magic and traps. I look at him and say "Well, looks like you have 2000 LP and 5 magics out on the field...nd I just played a card face-down, wonder what it could be" He knows he has lost, unless he can get rid of my princess before it flips. So he starts popping off magics, most of them wasted on his others jsut to reduce his numbers (I think he actually de-spelled his own gravekeepers servant). I smile, and let him. He ends his turn and I go, and I know I've already won. i even have 2 Princesses in my hand, but I dont need them. I flip the monster I laid face-down, it was Magician of Faith (I bluffed, hehe), got back raigeki, and killed him. (I'm laughing on the inside because I know he hates me for bluffing like that) We shake hands, and he challenged me to a rematch after the tournament. I agreed. We dueled after the tournament, and I lost, losing alot of life to my own dark elf and solemn judgement. Winner : me. Round 2: Me vs. Randy Randy's deck was big, about 70 cards. I don't say anything, because I had been helping alot of people already about their decks, and I was tired from lack of sleep. So I know this will be quick. He uses a mix of defense and beatdown. He has alot of powerful cards, even though his deck is big, its not because he uses crap cards like skull servant and remove trap. Unfortunately for him, his deck is exactly the kind of deck mine is built to beat. But the reduced monster removal made it a little bit tougher. But I manage anyway, easily winning two duels. Winner: me. Round 3: Me vs. Michael (ranked #1) It has to happen some time... Duel 1, I swear, Cyber Jar was used about 4 times in this duel. I ended the game with about 5 cards left. Michaels deck is a well made beat down, with Barrel dragon. Our decks are very similar, except he doesnt use share the pain, so I have the advantage. I win with about 6000 LP. Duel 2, cyber jars everywhere!!!! Spear cretin keeps bringing them back...this is insane. I used mine, and he used his a couple times...anyway. Much like last time. Last will filters out my deck, allowing me to draw my good cards....unfortunately for me, he played gravekeepers servant the very first turn....Cards I lose to it: dark hole, change of heart, solemn judgement, summoned skull, monster reborn, to name a few....I ended the duel with 1 card left in my deck....and it was....Raigeki -_- I win with only 1250 LP. Winner: me. There are only 3 people left, so we roll a die to see who gets the buy. J.C. wins it, but then the store owner says he cant have the buy because he had one last round, so me and Jack have to roll again. Jack rolls. Then I offer Jack the Buy if he wants it. J.C. butts in, saying no no no no, you cant do that. I didnt really want the buy. It just isnt fair, and I dont deserve it. But since J.C. argued, I let him have his way (I was too tired to care) so I roll and lose anyway, so I have to duel J.C. I dont think J.C. wanted to duel me. I'm just grinning on the inside, as my "arch enemy" fears me. Round 4: Me vs J.C. His deck is like most tournament pros. Not much differnce in them. The typical beatdown stuff like SS, the power 6(maybe 7 if you count cyber jar), magic jammer, etc. Anyway. He uses Crap Turtle ritual too... This was just way too easy. About half way through duel number 1, I have a hand of 5 cards....I look at them, then look at J.C. and say I'm sorry you've lost". He looks at me confused, but I shake my head. I'm really depressed now, because I was hoping for a more challenging duel...anyway. Giant Trunade.. change of heart....ragieki...attack....dead. Duel 2...I swear, about half the duel, there were nothing but rares in my hand...no commons...so...another boring duel. J.C. jsut doesnt offer me a challenge anymore with this improved version. He should probably go back to Houston. He might have more luck, ;) Winner: me. Round 5: Me vs Jack Jack's opponent first round lost, and got his tournament pack. In it was a White Hole..which means if Jack would have lost, he would have gotten it...I feel bad for him. But at least he made it to the finals, only to face me. However, Jack is not to be toyed with. His deck has and can beat mine. So I have to play well if I want to win. Both duels last a good half-hour. I end the first with about 3000 LP and 10 cards left, and the second with 5000LP and 2 cards left...ok...I definetely see a pattern forming. Winner me. Both of my tournament packs are the exact same: Judgement hand, Guardian of the fortress, and Easter island statue (not exact names, but who cares what they are, they are crap) I get a Monster reovery from the PSV, not bad...but itll prob be limited anyway, so now I have 1 I cant use. Maybe Ill trade it to someone for a MoF. Props: To Deep Blue Sea, for holding great tournament, and having the infinite patience with me for winning every tournement (is it just me, or does anyone else feel kinda...bad when they win every time?) To Jack for making it to the finals!!!! To Reliable Cab for taking me to the tourny, she was a nice lady. To Mrs. Craig, for being such a cool lady. To me for getting Heavy Storm!!!!!!! To Tim, for having the courage to wear a costume to the tournament...I swear....you haven't lived until you look over to the table across from you and see Reaper of the Cards playing you...it's freaky. Slops To Colby, for having the bad luck of always drawing my number. To the rain... it just wont stop. To the people that pack my tournament packs!!! To all those people who won't trade me a Heavy Storm!!! (I finally got one from Colby...hes so cool! I had helped him and his friend to build a burner deck, which he told me he did good with. I'm proud of myself. I traded the two of them some burner cards to help them. I've been thinking of making a burner deck of my own.)
