At the tournament I met up with some people from my (semi) local store. Round 1: Me vs. Robert (from local store) Okay, I knew he was running an Exodia deck so I went in my side deck and got my card destruction and my soul release out. Switched them with a Fissure and a Tribute to the Doomed. Duel one: I drew Delinquent Duo on my draw, I went first and used it. I took out one piece of Exodia and I cant remember what he took out of his hand. It was basically a beatdown battle after that. We were both clearing each other’s fields and attacking. I think I won with a Summoned Skull attacking. He took me down to three-thousand something though. Winner: Me Duel two: I drew a Soul Release on my draw, and he drew three Exodia pieces. Some exchanging went on until I attacked his face-down Sangan with a Summoned Skull. I knew he had four pieces of Exodia in his hand and I was hoping and praying for my card destruction. One turn later I drew it, used it, and then used Soul Release to take out his Exodia pieces. I basically was clearing his field and attacking after that. Winner: Me Round 2: Me vs. Chia This dude was good. Really good. Pretty much his whole deck was holo’s and rares. Duel one: Basically he was using the same tactics as I was, somehow I finally cleared out his monsters and killed him. There was a lot of 7 tools being thrown around in that game. Winner: Me Duel two: This game was similar to the first one, but he was getting much better cards on the field and I couldn’t defend. This game was getting really close when he finally attacked me for 2200 points and won. Winner: Chia Duel three: This duel was almost exactly like the second one, and I just couldn’t seem to clear his monsters out. He used the same monster to attack and kill me. Winner: Chia Round three: Me vs. Scott Scott was a guy who looked to be in his forties. He had a calculator and sleeves on his deck so I didn’t exactly know if I was going to beat him or not (deep down I knew I would). After the games started he was using some cards incorrectly and I would have to explain them to him. Now I knew I was going to beat him. Duel one: He kept setting monsters and I kept destroying them. Although a couple times he put down some high defense monsters and I attacked them taking damage. I somehow knew he had Judge Man in his deck, and he tribute set a monster. Not knowing that it was a bad idea I attacked with a Summoned Skull and took 500 damage off his Labyrinth Wall. I ended up taking his monsters out and killing him anyway. Winner: Me Duel two: All I remember is that I Mirror Forced his attacking Judge Man while he had like two other attacking monsters on the field. I killed him shortly after that. Winner: Me Round four: Finals with Me vs. Kid with surfer mop (sorry I don’t remember your name) I was talking to this kid before the tourney and he really knew what he was talking about, so I wasn’t sure who would come out the victor in this round. Duel one: He never seemed to get monsters on the field and when he did I would just take them off anyway. I think I finally got barrel dragon out this game but it got trap holed. I ended up killing him anyway. Winner: Me Duel two: I don’t know why but he still wasn’t getting monsters out and the same thing happened, I would just send them back to his hand anyway. Winner: Me As I figured, the final round of the tournament was Me vs. Chia. Again these were pretty close games until we were getting down to around 3000 life points. Somehow he would always finish me off. The second duel we were both using Swords of Revealing Light, and after his was done, he decided to lay down another one. I couldn’t do much and ended up losing both duels. Place: Second Props: Me getting second. Chia for winning. To the guy that handed me two tourney packs and didn’t realize it. Me trading that harpie lady magic card thing for a Just Desserts and a Last Will. And also somehow acquiring two more La Jinn and another Just Desserts. (I’m trying to build a burner deck) Slops: For getting garbage in the tourney packs. The crappy prizes and crappy entrance fee. The loud kids that were gambling in the store after the tourney that the guy that works there yelled at.
