Subject: Nimbus Strike, Wizards of the Coast, Puyallup, WA Deck Name: Nimbus Strike My Name: Kale Avery Tournament location: Wizards od the Coast, Puyallup, Washington Tournament Date: 10/17/02 Number of People in Tournament: 16 This deck is mainly focused on taking out my opponents monsters, then putting out Maha Vailo, putting as much power-ups on him, then raping the heck out of them (I use the word rape instead of words like utterly destroy and stuff like that) Monsters=18 3x La Jinn 2x 7 Colored Fish 3x Maha Vailo 1x Cannon Soldier 1x Mystical Elf (Holo =) 2x Wall of Illusion 3x Man-Eater Bug 3x Magician of Faith Magic=17 1x Change of Heart 1x Monster Reborn 1x Dark Hole 1x Pot of Greed 1x Raigeki 2x Swords of Revealing Light 1x Heavy storm 1x Giant Trunade 2x Tribute to the Doomed 2x Axe of Despair 2x Malevolent Nuzzler 1x Black Pendant 1x Megamorph Trap=11 1x Mirror Force 1x Spellbinding Circle 2x Magic Jammer 2x Seven Tools of the Bandit 3x Waboku 2x Trap Hole Total cards in deck=46 I think that as long as you have at least under 50 cards in your deck you'll be fine. It mainly depends on what kind of deck you have for example; When I finish my Exodia deck that I'll be starting on soon, I'll have 40 cards in that deck. I have Mystical Elf in my deck because it's holo and it looks cool. I'll probably replace it but it'll be hard. I got my final axe of despair in between matches so now I have three and my deck is complete unless I need some cards from the new set. You should deffinetly have a minimum of 2 Magic Jammers and Seven Tools of the Bandit. Those two cards are extremely helpful. It's good to have cards that can save you in a time of need like Waboku, Mirror force, and Spellbinding Circle. I have only one Heavy Storm in my deck because it's a power up deck and I'll have power up cards on the field that I don't want to destroy, that's why I also have Giant Trunade in my deck. You have to have a Maha Vailo in a power up deck. This tournament is a two out of three, four matches. Who ever does the best out of the four wins. It's not only about your wins though. It's also about who you play and how good they did, and if you got 2-0, or 2-1, or 1-0, or 2-0 after one match. It's all complicated and weird. It was a $6 entry fee, and 16 people signed up. The prizes were first place, 8 Magic Ruler and 2 Tournament packs, Second place, 5 Magic Ruler and 1 Tournament pack, an Third place, 3 Magic Ruler and 1 Tournament pack. Not everyone could recieve a tournament pack because Upperdeck only sent around 20 of them and it took them around two months to send them. I don't remember exactly what happened but I'll do my best. Match 1 Round 1 Me Vs. Little kid with glasses This kid was the hardest guy I had to compete against. He has one of those basic decks with the La Jinn and Man Eater but he also had some good cards like Mirror Force. It all started out good. I was killing his monsters and putting a couple power ups on my guy's then I powered up a Maha Vailo to the upper 3000's and nailed his face for a bunch of damage, then the worst thing happened, he played a dark hole. Things started going down hill from there. He Powered up one of his Maha Vailo's nizailed me for a lot of damage. He was able to attack me once with him because I got a Mirror force. After the Maha Vailo thing was over he put a field card out that powers up water type and put out monsters like Seven colored Fish. He did more damage to me so now I am at 1050 and he's at 1500. I was able to take out his water monsters and put out a monster that had been flipped in defense mode. He then made a huge mistake, he reborned that 1600 attack shark monster. He then attacked my defense guy and ended his turn. I then reborned the smarter choice, Seven Colored Fish. They were both powered up by 200 and I attaked him. In the end the score was 1050 to 1300 and I had a La Jinn with Megamorph. I played another La Jinn and he trap holed it. I then attacked thinking he couldn't do anything but he played a Waboku. I then quickly played Seven Tools of the Bandit and did his face in to the negatives. That was a close one with 50 life points left. Round 2 Me Vs. same kid This one was faster and I played Change of Heart at least 4 times by flipping his Magician of Faiths with my Change of Heart and getting it back which you can do for all you stupid people out there who disagree. I also played Raigeki twice and powered up Maha Vailo's to rape him hard core (Once again this is just a funny phrase I use). I ended up winning that round and the match. Me=2-0 Match 2 Round 1 Me Vs. Little Japanese kid? He wasn't very hard but he did have a heck load of monsters. He beat my friend in the round before who had a toon deck because my friend ran out of cards. Anyway's, I waisted him this round but I did go into the 5000 area but that's o.k. Round 2 Me Vs. Same kid It was all the same as before with his infinite amount of monsters. He did play a Change of Heart on my Maha Vailo in the 4000 attack range though, but I Wabokued him so He did nothing. He also played a Summoned Skull but I trap Holed it. I won This duel and the match and after the match he kept asking me for a booster if I won. I said no and that he had to earn it himself. I admit that was a little mean. Me=4-0 Match 3 Round 1 Me Vs. New guy older than me This guy had only been playing for about 3 weeks I think but still had some pretty good cards. He had some power-ups like most people I played but I didn't think he posed that much of a threat before the match because I saw his deck. The first round was kind of short. I would play monster's and attack, he played monsters and attack. I was the one who did good damage though. I think I played Magic Jammer and Seven Tools once. I also played Swords of Revealing Light. Just like the Match before he Change of Hearted my Maha Vailo and attacked me but I used Waboku. I ended up winning this round. Round 2 Me Vs. Same Guy He was new at this game so he did make a few mistakes I helped him a little. One time he tried to trap hole my Monster that I was setting face down. Later on when I finally did summon a monster in attack mode he didn't do anything so I mentioned that he should probably play the trap hole that he tried using before. He did play it. Another time during the round I played SORL which flipped his face down monster and ended up being a Cyber jar. It killed my only monster and his cyber jar and we each drew 5 cards. I eneded up getting three attacking monsters and he got one defense monster that sucks. From there I started wailing on him. On his last turn he played Tailor of the Fickle on My Axe of Despair but I Magic Jammered that. On my next turn I attacked and won. Me=6-0 Match 4 (Final Match) Round 1 Me Vs. Older kid (by the way, I'm 15) Before the Match I played against my friend who has a toon deck. While I was playing him the kid I new I was playing next, I new this because he had the same record as me, wanted to watch. I told him no because I didn't want him to know my cards before we dueled. We ended up agreeing that he could watch as long as I could see his deck. I won the single round against my friend then right after that the host announced who we were playing against. It was the guy who watched me play. He also had some power ups, but no Axe of Despair thank goodness. He thought I had basically the same deck as him but he never saw me play with my good cards. It was a normal round with us exchanging turns. We started out going really fast then slowed down a little. I think I played SORL twice on him. All in all I won the round. Round 2 Me Vs. Same guy It was basically the same as the other round except we didn't start out going really fast. This Match was kind of boring but also exciting because I just new that if I won the the match against him I'd automatically win the Tournament. I did end up winning this round and I won the match. Me=8-0 I did end up winning the tournament. In the 8 boosters I got only two good cards which were Giant Trunade, and Delinquent duel. Out of the two tournament packs I got a super rare calledPatrol Robo. He sucks but I might be able to sell him. Now for some words of advise. Always go to a tournament extra early so that you can have first picks on trading from people who start walking in. Also find out exactly what kind of deck everyone has that way you'll be prepared before the match. Now for the slops and props. Slops * To a black kid named Eddie who last week I got in a huge arguement with about sacrificing monsters. He says that you can sacrifice a monster for a level four or lower monster, which you can't do. So if you ever see him around here. Tell him he's stupid. He's usually at Proctors tournaments in Tacoma mall. * To Proctors in Tacoma. They need to get smart and find some more table so that more people can play in their tournaments. * To the kid who stole Joey's Red Eye's Black Dragon Props * To Wizards for having this tournament * To Rachel (I think that's how you speel her name) who hosted the tournament * To me for winning My name is Kale Avery Contact me at emperor_kale@hotmail.com _________________________________________________________________ Unlimited Internet access for only $21.95/month.  Try MSN! http://resourcecenter.msn.com/access/plans/2monthsfree.asp
