I just read his Tournament Report, and it looks like he had as much success as I did. This deck is different from my last. It is not beatdown. It is pure monster removal strategy. I love this deck because it allows me to play it; it doesn't play itself. I added 2 cards before the tourny to make it 42, but I plan to slim it down to 40 again for next week. There were alot more people then usual. So we had single-elimination. Someone had to leave mid-tourny so there weren't any buys until Round 4. We drew numbers for the pairings. I end up drawing the same player I played first last Tourny. Round 1: Me vs. Colby (Fire Storm) Colby gave me my sole loss in the tourny, so props to him for having such a great deck. Too bad he had to be eliminated first round. But one of us had to go. First duel, he plays, and as always starts strong with his fire monsters. This time he drops the fire field card that increases their ATKs by 500...big problms for me already...He drops a Flame Cerebus and wipes out my La Jinn. Then he drops a ... Messenger of Peace? ok, maybe he's trying to stall. He later told me he regretted playing it. He was down to 4100 LP before I played Giant Trunade and wiped out his remaining LP. Second duel, he dominates with a Swords of RL and Little Chimera. I manage to de-spell his Swords, but his Chimera is problematic, and I go down to 2200 before I pull SS. I still lose to a beafed up Flame Cerebus. Third duel, I get my deck rolling and take control. The duel ended with me using Change of Heart on his face down monster (it was Jigen Bakudan, go figure...) and destroy him with Summoned Skull and a MoF. Winner: me. Round 2: Me vs. Tim (Exodia/Potpourri deck) Tim's deck is interesting because it contains alot of alot of things. It does very well, but has some weaknesses. It doesn't do too well against focused decks like mine. The speed of my deck quickly overwhelms him before he can put up much of a defense. He tried to use Gravekeepers Servant to stop me attacking, but I have no fear. As I said, my deck doesnt rely on any one card. So I attack, losing my only Swords of RL. But I dont care, becuase I won anyway. Props to Tim for his unique style. Winner: me. Round 3: Me vs. J.C. J.C....well...um...I have SOME resentment to him. He beat me in my first tournament. He is also the owner of the ONLY known Mirror Force in the area, and I've offered him a Black Skull Dragon and Toon Summoned Skull for it, but he turned me down. He said he would trade a Relinquished for Mirror Force in a heartbeat...more on this story later... His deck is good...it has all the power cards in it. But he wasn't playing that well. He made alot of mistakes, which I quickly took advantage of. I was able to get the Witches and Sangans going, quickly filtering my deck down (I remember having only 10 cards left after the end of the second duel). He Mirror Forced my La Jinn (boo hoo) but that's all. I'm not sure, but I guess the Heart of the Cards wasnt with him today. Winner: me There were only 3 people left so we rolled a die to see who would get the buy. Of all the luck, Michael gets it so I have to duel. Round 4: Me vs. Jack Jack is cool. Hes a good duelist. He was ranked #2 in the area so I knew I was in for a good duel. The duel was unexciting though. He has a good deck but I just kept taking all his monsters off the field. My monster quickly mopped up the mess and I came out on top, losing only 200 LP in the whole match. (I attacked a Mystical Elf with my La Jinn) Winner: me. Round 5: Me vs. Michael Yes, the same guy I played last time in the finals. He is ranked #59 in the nation, I heard. He doesn't like to duel anyone except in tournaments. My guess is he is too afraid to reveal what cards he has. No biggy, because I've already played him twice in the last 2 tournaments. Continuing from the story above. J.C. wanted a Relinquished for his Mirror Force...guess who has the only Relinquished in the area...MICHAEL!!! So here I was, faced with the task of first: getting Michaels Relinquished. and Then: trading it to J.C. To finally get that Mirrow Force Ive always wanted....well...Michael wouldnt trade, so I'm stuck with my "Power 6 minus one". Michaels draws were better this time so the duel was more exciting. First duel he plays a face down monster. I go, lay down Witch, and a trap card. He flips Man_eater, so I search for Summoned Skull. He summons a SS of his own, and I Trap Hole it. I play another Witch face down . He plays a monster face down and passes. my turn, I play Last Will. He goes, "uh, ok". Then I smile and reveal my Share the Pain. He has to destroy his monster, while I search for a Sangan and use Last Will to put my own Cyber Jar in play (face down of course). He goes and lays another monster face down. My turn, I flip my Cyber Jar, destroyng...his Cyber Jar!! hehe...He summons La Jinn and 7 Colored (uh oh). All I get is a Sangan and La Jinn...looks like he's gonna win...except....Dark Hole!!! Hehe. I still havent played a monster this turn. So I summon a La Jinn Ive been holding back, and use Monster Reborn on his Summoned Skull. With nothing on his side of the field, I quickly dished out soem pain and won the duel. The second duel was similar, except he used Hiro's Shadow Scout. I revealed the top 3 cards of my deck: Change of Heart, Swords of Revealing Lghts, and De-Spell...darn...poor me. It did him no good. I still won. My strategy didnt rely on a few magic cards, so I can still come back and defeat my opponent. Winner: me. Well, I had alot of fun beating people with strategy and not beatdown. I got my 2 tourny packs, and pulled...some Beastking of the Swamps card. I get nothing but crap, but no biggy, I had fun!!! I saw a kid pull a White Hole earlier in the day (darnit). Props: To Deep Blue Sea, for holding the Tournament To Mr Craig, for putting up with 26 Yu-Gi-Oh players. To Zach for being the coolest Yu-Gi-Oh trader To Ground Zero, for the deck ideas. To Colby, hope you don't have to duel me first round next time too To the Cyber Jar I pulled that day!!! Slops: To J.C. for trying to trade in the MIDDLE of a tournament. Someone forgot to tell him that you CANNOT change your deck in the middle of a tourny. To my sore throat and congested nose that day. To the person that packs my Tourny packs. To all the people that send me emails that are BLANK!!! It says the size is 186k but I open it up and theres nothing inside. I evin got an email from yugiohdepartment@pojo.com and it was blank too. So as I said before, DO NOT EMAIL ME at my hotmail account. My email is bddp2001@webtv.net Whew, that's all for now. See you next week. Feel free to email me any time with comments or questions. _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com
