Subject: Operation: Yami Noir Beatdown, Zack Dzwonkiewicz, Vintage Stock, Springdale AR Deck: Operation: YamiNoir Beatdown Name: Zack Dzwonkiewicz (Polish/Czech) Duelist Number: LampOfLaJinn Store Rank: 25th of 72 (Today's tourney not factored yet) Location: Vintage Stock, Springdale Arkansas Date: Saturday, October 12th Number of Duelists: Aproximately 40 Greetings and salutations! So, this time I'm going to write in HTML and see what happens. In case you didn't read my last report (It was last weekend) I run a Dark Fiend/Spellcaster deck, based heavily on equip cards. Unfortunately, Eternal Rest was legalized this week (along with all of the other Magic Ruler) and I was nervous. Luckily, Eternal Resat only showed up when I dueled my friend Matt (Because he knows my deck almost as well as I do) but that was only in a friendly non-tourney match. So, without further ado... THE DECK Monsters 3x Summoned Skull (Basis of my deck. Staple. Thanks to Ricky for two of them!) 2x Man-Eater Bug (Open wide, MEB, this one's a Blue Eyes!) 2x Giant Soldier of Stone (Considerable defense, makes up for Labyrinth Wall) 2x Witch of the Black Forest (Hello Summoned Skull) 2x La Jinn the Mystical Genie of the Lamp (Goes with theme, second best four star in the game ) 2x Ryu-Kishin Powered (Equal to 7 Colored with Yami on the field) 1x Labyrinth Wall (Face-down, this thing's a killer) 1x Dark Magician (Theme; need to get my paws on another) 1x Judge Man (Unde - , a great card for one tribute) 1x King of Yamimakai (With the theme, easily powered up to Summoned Skull level) 1x Neo the Magic Swordsman (Goes against the theme, but too unde to ignore) 1x Fire Kraken (See above) Total: 19 Magic 2x Malevolent Nuzzler (Theme) 2x Sword of Deep-Seated (Theme) 2x Book of Secret Arts (Dark Magician and Neo) 2x Dark Energy (Summoned Skull and Theme) 2x Sword of Dark Destruction (Theme) 2x Fissure (Staple) 1x Change of Heart (Obvious. Restricted) 1x Soul Exchange (See Above) 1x Monster Reborn (See Above) 1x Rush Recklessly (Theme) 1x Yami (Theme) 1x Dian Keto the Cure Master (Staple) 1x Tribute to the Doomed (Staple. Thanks to Ricky!) 1x Ookazi (For those tough clincher victories) 1x Paralyzing Potion (Major Abuse) Total: 21 Traps 2x Trap Hole (Awesomeness!) 1x Seven Tools of the Bandit (Thanks to Ricky!) Total: 3 Deck Total: 43 Magic/Trap to Monster Ratio: 24:19 I know, I know, all decks should have 1:1 perfect balance. But my deck relies very heavily on my magic cards. Now, on to... THE TOURNAMENT The tournament was single elimination. There was a five dollar entry fee and everyone got a free tournament pack for playing. Japanese cards were illegal, and Magic Ruler was now legal. Round One Zack (Operation: YamiNoir Beatdown) VS Sean (A totally awesome Blue Eyes Beatdown) Match One Woa! How did I get paired up with this guy?! The Match was over so fast that I didn't even get to keep LP score! He got out a Blue Eyes with a Megamorph (o.O) and even my powered up Summoned Skull didn't stand a chance! Match Two Okay, this was pretty cool. He made a HUGE mistake! He played Ultimate Offering to get out a Blue Eyes on his first turn. Well, as always, I abused the HECK out of my opponent's Ultimate Offering. I played a Witch of the Black Forest, used it to put a second Summoned Skull in my hand (by tributing it for my first Summoned Skull fir 500 LP damage) then payed another 1000 to play Ryu-Kishin as a tribute for a second Summoned Skull. Followed by Dian Keto the Cure Master, I might add. Then I gave one of my Skulls a nice little Malevolent Nuzzler, and the other a Sword of Deep-Seated. I destroyed Blue Eyes with the Sword of Deep-Seated one, putting Sword back on top of my deck (To power my Skull up to 3700 next turn.) Then attacked for 3200 direct damage. Next turn he played a monster in defense and ended his turn. My turn, and I draw.. Monster Reborn! My hand consists of Monster Reborn, Tribute to the Doomed (Thanks Rick, you saved my buttox!) and Sword of Deep-Seated. I discarded Sword to destroy his defensive monster (Mystical Elf) and then Reborned my second Skull, then destroyed him. Match Three This was quite possibly the worst match of my life! I drew ALL monsters. He beat the crud out of my; it was ridiculous. Well, I lost first round. But, in my Tournament pack I got the Swampking guy (use as a substitute for one fusion monster) and traded it to my buddy Ricky for a holographic first edition Heavy Storm. Later I traded off some doubles for: Dian Keto Robbin' Goblin Fairy's Hand Mirror La Jinn Another Swampking I played some pick up games (five to be exact) and won all of them in the first two matches. Now, the infamous Props and Slops Props: To Ricky again for the trades To Ricky again for being so cool To Raif and his dad for bringing me To my mom for my entry fee and a Metal Raiders pack To Vintage Stock for holding the tournament Slops To Vintage Stock for pairing my up with a master in the first round To the little kid I played a game with who tried to cheat To the guy who said you couldn't use your opponent's Ultimate Offering To Matt (whom I hooked with the whole Yu-Gi-Oh thing) for getting so lucky with his boosters (Axe of Dispair AND Relinquished!)
