The goal of this deck is to disrupt the opponent’s plan. I try to do this by either using Robbin’ Goblin to remove cards from their hand or by outnumbering their monsters and clearing the field to attack directly. This deck was not planned to stop beatdowns, but it is very successful against beatdowns. This is the 4th tournament I have won, but I’ve used other decks before. I started with beatdowns (good deck; but little strategy needed), monster removal (magic, trap, and effect monsters; a little more strategy), direct damage (cannon soldier and catapult turtle; not too good, needed a good hand to win), and finally my Disruptor (used ideas from my other decks). I know I am missing some good cards, but cards that you think should be in my deck and are not in there is due to the fact that I don’t have it. 1st match Opponent: Alan (Defensive Deck) I had never previously played Alan, but the day before I had about 5 practice duels with him for fun. This gave me a preview of his deck and I knew he played defense, 2000 DEF monsters with a couple of Labyrinth Walls, along with Shield and Sword. One of my practice duels came down to the last card, with him at less than 1000 LP, me at around 2000, but it was my turn and I had one card left. I drew a Wall of Illusion and there was no cards in the M/T zone and I was able to summon to attack for the win. So before this duel started, I knew it would be tough. My Disruptor deck can win, but it rarely dominates (a duel where there is no LP damage to me at all). And since Alan runs one of the few defensive decks, it would be a hard match. We started out with both of us filling our monster zone since nobody was really attacking. My deck takes a while to setup, so I was just loading up my monster and M/T. Eventually I was able to get the right cards needed for a huge combo, and I used a bunch of MEB and Hane-Hane removal, attacking for direct damage, then following up with a Cannon Soldier Launching party. (I have to thank Alan, and another guy I practice with, Jeremy, for giving me the great idea of adding Cannon Soldier to my deck). I won the 1st and 2nd duel almost the same way. 2nd match, semi-finals Opponent: Jeff (Direct Damage, or as he likes to call it “Aged Cheese”) I’ve played Jeff lots of times before, when we both had beatdowns when we first started. He is one of the first players to use a deck other than beatdown. I have to be careful when I play Jeff, since he uses Just Desserts and Princess of Tsurugi. So during the match, I had to be careful about putting too many monsters or M/Ts down. He got a couple of good hits on me with his Desserts and Princess, along with Jinzo #7 and Mystic Lamp. He usually uses them in a combination with Robbin’ Goblin. But in the end, I was able to pull out with the win using my “big” hitters, Giant Soldier of Stone and Wall of Illusion, with my removals clearing the way. Both duels were pretty much the same. 3rd match, finals Opponent: Donald (Beatdown) Donald is a fairly new player, about a month or so. I remember his first tournament, but now he has more experience and has come a long way. Since I was playing against a beatdown, I made sure to save my trap holes for crucial times and to keep his monster count low. Against beatdowns, if you get very outnumbered, you are gone, because the hits keep coming. Both duels he had got me down to really low lifepoints, and I was using lots of counter traps (Solemn Judgment mostly) to keep him from delivering the KO. I was able to hold him off long enough to win both duels. Robbin’ Goblin also kept taking cards from his hand. 4th match, championship Opponent: Geraldine (Earth-theme Beatdown) Geraldine is the number two ranked player at the store we play at (I’m number 1 for now). She is one of only two girls that play Yu-Gi-Oh there. I knew a little about her deck, but I had never faced her before this. She has a good beatdown deck, and since it is Earth-themed, she can power them up with things like Gaia Power, and only her monsters would get the boost. The first duel started out with her beating me down fast. I think I only did at most 2000 damage, but I was able to see her strategy. Along with Earth monsters, she uses Dream Clowns to continuously clear the field. I knew I had to get rid of those, or I would have trouble on all my duels with her. My first loss of the day, but I expected it, since she had to be good to get to the championship. The second duel I won, she didn’t get a good draw and I was able to get direct attacks with my Giant Soldiers and Walls of Illusion. The third duel was a classic. She started out with some Dream Clowns and was beating me down. I was then able to get rid of those, get Jirai Gumo out, and bring her down with some direct attacks. She then gained the upper hand again with Raigeki and she got me down to 50 LP. I was then able to slowly gain control with my removal monsters along with Share the Pain. She almost beat me with a Change of Heart, but I had a Solemn Judgment that brought me down to 25 LP and with that counter, I was able to win. What’s up! to the hardcore Yu-Gi-Oh! gamers at a World of Books, keeping the game going. Get lost! to the thieves that steal cards from kids (I don’t care how old you are, didn’t your mama tell you that stealing is wrong?!)
