Subject: Black Skull Beatdown, Matt Delcalzo, Boulevard Cards, Hasbrouck Keights, NJ, 10/12/02 This is, I believe, my 8th time competing here. Prior to that, I had won 3 of them, and I'm currently the #1 Duelist in the store. Since I got bored of using a normal beatdown, I figured I'd make a Black Skull Dragon-centered Beatdown. It faired pretty well, although I think next week I'll try a Thunder Dragon Deck. So here's the deck: Monsters: 20 3x Summoned Skull 3x La Jinn the Mystical Genie of the Lamp 3x 7 Colored Fish 2x Vasago the Destroyer 1x Goddess with the Third Eye 3x Magician of Faith 2x Man-Eater Bug 2x Witch of the Black Forest 1x Cyber Jar Magic: 11 1x Raigeki 1x Dark Hole 1x Pot of Greed 1x Monster Reborn 1x Change of Heart 2x Card Destruction 2x Heavy Storm 2x Polymerization Traps: 9 1x Mirror Force 1x Solemn Judgement 2x Seven Tools of the Bandit 2x Magic Jammer 3x Trap Hole Side Note: I wanted to include a third Polymerization, but I hadn't received it yet, so I had to work with what I had. Round 1: Me vs. Steven This was my first time facing him, I don't think I had ever seen him at a previous Tournament. He was better than I thought he'd be. In the first match, I pretty much had the upper hand. The only damage he did to me was with a Witch of the Black Forest. I finished him with BSD. Our second match was SLOW. The only damage that was done during the match was me losing LP from attacking his Castle of Dark Illusions with my Linns and Fish. Then the time ran out, and since I had won the first match, I won the round. Round 2: Me vs. Ricky Ricky hates facing me more than anything, usually because when he has the upper hand, I pull somthing and wipe him out. Today was no different. The first match was similar to the second. In both, he got me down to really low LP, and I used Solemn Judgement to counter what would have been the a winning move. In at least one of the duels I got out Black Skull and finished him with it. Round 3: Me vs. Jeremy I had ssen Jeremy a lot at past Tournaments, but this was my first time facing him. I don't really remember either match that well, except that I didn't get out Black Skull either time. He put up a good fight, but I emerged victorious. Round 4 (Finals): Me vs. Mike Mike is pretty much my rival, in a friendly way, though. He's the only one there that's really any competition. I beat him at the last Tournament, but he beat twice before that. Our first match was pretty quick; he had the upper hand the entire time. I had the advantage a few times during the second match, but he suddenly used just about every card in his hand to pull a killer combo (I can't even remember it) to wipe out the last of my LP. So I came in second. For getting second, I got 3 packs, in which I got complete crud: Mother Grizzly (my 6th!) Flying Kamakiri #1 UFO Turtle Mike got 6 packs for winning, in which he also got complete crud, with the exception of a Mystical Space Typhoon. Props: -To Mike for being the only competition there -To none of my cards being stolen this week Slops: -To, after winning 3 Tournments and coming in second once (total 21 packs), not getting one Super or Ultra Rare. -To my brother for trading an Acid Trap Hole and a Card Destruction for God knows how many great cards, including a Painful Choice, Confiscation, Megamorph, 2 Twin-Headed Thunder Dragons, and those are just a few. -To my brother, once again, trading all of the great cards mentioned above, and others, for a Toon World.
