Craig Roberts "Stall/Jinzo Deck v1.1" The Lucky Frog and Wizards of the Coast Annandale and Springfield (respectively), Virginia November 23rd, 2002 Prologue: I just went my second week in a row getting first place at two different tournaments so I decided to write another tournament report just for the sake of it. Much to say, but it's like 1am in the morning on Sunday and I'm tired so I'll try to keep it brief. My deck is pretty much the same as last week except for a few improvements/corrections. Deck Contents: 40-card maindeck, 15-card sidedeck Monsters: 1 Jinzo 3 Nimble Momonga 3 Man-Eater Bug 3 Magician of Faith 2 Sangan 2 Witch of the Black Forest 3 Wall of Illusion 1 Morphing Jar #2 1 Cyber Jar 1 Spear Cretin Magic/Trap: 1 Ceasefire 1 Raigeki 1 Dark Hole 1 Pot of Greed 1 Change of Heart 1 Snatch Steal 1 Delinquent Duo 1 Confiscation 1 The Forceful Sentry 1 Mirror Force 1 Monster Reborn 1 Premature Burial 2 Heavy Storm 2 Swords of Revealing Light 2 Tribute to the Doomed 2 Gravity Bind Sidedeck:(which I haven't used but once for one card, since creation of deck) 1 Call of the Haunted 1 Graverobber 2 Dream Clown 2 Giant Soldier of Stone 2 Cannon Soldier 2 Messenger of Peace 1 The Shallow Grave 2 Burning Land 2 Chain Energy Tournament 1: The Lucky Frog 11am (Duelist King Sanctioned) Pre-Tournament: I got a PSV booster for registering, and pulled out a Legendary Fisherman. Which I promptly traded along with a starter deck monster reborn for a rare holo Monster Reborn (I'm trying to get all the cards in my deck to be rares) people left: 28 round 1: me vs. michael (exodia) I beat him first 2 duels of the match, he got about 3 pieces in his hand both times. I used Jinzo both times to seal the deal. More of the same. people left: 14 round 2: me vs. scott (exodia) I eat him the first duel with my low atk monsters. He was able to get exodia out at the beginning of my turn (he went first) during the second duel. I conquered him in the third duel with Jinzo. people left: 7 round 3: me vs. keith (...beatdown) He didn't play his usual Exodia deck, so he beat him fairly easier then usual. Jinzo pretty much took him out. The most annoying part about playing him was that he kept Card Destructioning and soul releasing me. Nice try, Bro. people left: 4 (semi-finals) round 4: me vs. some guy (beatdown) Each duel against him took 5 minutes, I won the first two duels in like no time at all. Got jinzo out, snatch stealed his stuff, and kept his field clear to win. people left: 2 (finals) round 5: me vs. tyler (beatdown) He kept me from getting out Jinzo for awhile, but Reborn and Premature helped me get it back, and in the end I beat him out, with a resurrected Jinzo and his Flash Assailment. 1st Place Prize: $13 store credit. I got 2 PSV and 1 MRL booster along with a Crunch Bar. Got another Beast of Talwar in a booster. Tournament 2: Wizards of the Coast 5pm (nonsanctioned, but still rule-abiding) people left: 32 round 1: me vs. some guy (beatdown) He had mainly only high tribute monsters in his deck (extremely n00bish), cause everytime I confiscated or forceful sentried him that's all there was and he went most of his turns without summoning any monsters. Beat him pretty badly and finished in 5 minutes. people left: 16 round 3: me vs. eric (beatdown) I won the first duel fairly quickly, using a various array of small monsters. He won the second duel even quicker. Then during the third duel he brought me down real bad, but I inched my way into a comeback for the win. people left: 8 round 4: me vs. goat (pseudo-craig deck) Before the tournament began, I helped put his deck together so that it very closely resembled mine. I won the first duel fast, he won the second with the sheer fact that I couldn't seem to draw any useful monsters, and I wiped him out the third duel. Just goes to show you, Goat, that trying to use my own dream clown strategy against me never works. people left: 4 (semi-finals) round 5: me vs. mike (relinquished) He vowed revenge for Poland, and not to make the same mistake as last week, but even then, I still beat him in the first and third duel. His relinquished's just never seem to be able to last more then a turn, very much unlike my Jinzo. people left: 2 (finals) round 6: me vs. alex (beatdown) Down to the finals, I've never played this kid before, but I've heard his boasting and that should count for something. Beat him fairly quickly the first duel with small monsters. He slowly won the second duel, as I had nothing to defend myself with, and he reborned my Jinzo. And he brought me too my knees in the third duel (400 lp), till I was able to make a mirac..uluos?? comeback and take him down from 6000lp to 2300lp, I then finished him off with a ceasefire while I had 4 effect monsters down and he had 1. 1st place prize: 5 boosters: PSV, MRL, or MRD. I choose 5 boosters from PSV, and ended up getting another Ceasefire and another Graverobber. There were other prizes at the ends of round 3 and 4 but those are better left unmentioned. And as always, the top 4 get to leave a quote, so I wrote about my hunger for babies, the chili's jingle, and how much I love Jinzo and Ceasefire. Those are the two tournaments, now time for props and slops so I can get some sleep: Props: - To Keith for letting me beat him without having to worry about Exodia - To all my good luck at the rares I got in those free boosters - To Jinzo and Ceasefire, without which I probably wouldn't have even placed - To seemingly having successfully taken over Jeff's spot at the tournaments - To the warmth of the blankets wrapped around me right now Slops: - To having to wake up and get out of bed to play - To Goat, for trying to mimic my deck and to no avail, DISGRACEFUL is all I have to say - To Goat, for having been born, and still being alive, again i say DISGRACEFUL - To the kids at Lucky Frog who stay on the computers there for hours, they need to stay home - To WOTC for discontinuing tournaments after today until January - For Harry Potter being such a long movie that I couldn't get home till 1am - And for Scott, for getting nuked twice while I was able to get Magellan - No official PSV restrict list out - No Tournament Season 2 packs this week either That's about it; you can reach me at certemplar@yahoo.com if you have any nonsense you feel like voicing in my general direction. Or if you are want to, my IM is certemplar2003 to those around my area (that I play with) who feel like talking.
