This is Oklahoma, what do you expect? You have to be rich and famous to even FIND a Metal Raiders booster pack here. But I digress. The main point of my deck is to lead my opponent into thinking i'm running a certain deck, then play an entirely different set of cards to throw them off-track. This doesn't work too well, but it's a start for a novice. Pre-Round 1: Ah, Greyknight Comics. The Major Leagues of Oklahoma as far as Yu-Gi-Oh is concerned. Me and my friends Mike Stokes and RG Hilabrand were buzzing about with excitement. Mike, as soon as the situation arrived, whipped out his Thousand Eyes Restrict and began the trading. Me and RG just walked off to scope out the competition. But it didn't take long before the matches were announced. My first opponent was ready, and this was going to be a long day. Round 1: Me Vs. Anthony (The Toon Kid) *Duel 1* I must say, for a 7 year old, this kid had strategy. He starts off the first battle hoping for his Toon World, but is denied. He keeps placing Lord of D. down in Defense Mode, and even Monster Reborned it once! La-Jinn took out all 4 of them, then whacked away at his life points until he was no more. *Duel 2* This is where I was in trouble. Toon World was placed out on Turn 2 after La-Jinn took the bat. His Lord of D. was actually in Attack Mode, which meant trouble for me when I saw his Flute of Summoning Dragons and watched in horror as two very large Manga Ryu-Rans were placed upon the field. Before I could blink, he had attachments on them, and my life points were GONE. It was heating up for me. *Duel 3* This was the make-or-break moment. La-Jinn took up the base a final time. His Toon World was out on Turn 1, with another face-down Lord of D. in play. Luckily, I was ready. I quickly De-Spell his only Toon World, then pummel away. His last resort was when he used Confiscate to destroy Maha Vailo, but I still came out the victor. We shook hands, I gave him sage advice (Get more Toon Worlds,) and went on my way. Round 1 Winner: Me Mike and RG both lost their first rounds, but it was Double Elimination, so they were still in the running. We barely got a breather in between bouts before they announced Round 2 brackets. This is where things took a down-drop very quickly. Round 2: Me Vs. Scott (The "Amateur" Professional) *Duel 1* Dear....GOD. This guy acted like he was born to play this game. The first turn out, I get my Cyber Jar in Defense Mode, ready for action. Next thing I know, he Ragieki's it, plays down Gravekeeper's Servent, La-Jinn, then he Card Destructions, and right before he attacks my life points, he plays a Chain Energy. Beautiful. Out of the Card Destruction cards and the one I just drew, no monsters. So it comes as no surprise that he soon gets out a Summoned Skull and whaps me again. I'm down by a lot. Next card is a monster - Maha Vailo! This is looking good! I get it down, pay life points to attach Malevolent Nuzzlers, and attack!...apparently, I didn't see that Mirror Force that was lying on the field since Turn 1. It was soon all over. *Duel 2* Turn 1, I get a lot of Magic cards, and one Trap Master. Goody. Turn 2, he Soul Exchanges for a Summoned Skull, and plays Cyber Jar face-down. Turn 3, I get no monsters. Turn 4, he flips the Cyber Jar (After the Battle Phase of knocking down my life points, of course) and gets even more monsters. This allows for a replay, where his monsters overpower mine. Turn 5, I Card Destruction, then Monster Reborn my Blue-Eyes onto the field, and attack!...once again, his Mirror Force works against me. I didn't feel the deathblow. Round 2 Winner: Scott I wasn't bitter. I knew I didn't have enough good cards just yet. However, I swore I would return. It may have been Double Elimination for the first round, but the second one wielded a Single Elimination, which I had experienced. RG lost again, thus knocking us both out. Mike got a Bye for his next round, so me and RG had a fun little match. Needless to say, it was long, boring, and full of face-down monsters, to which I was victorious. Now, I shall report on Mike's final battle that day, and the bloodiest defeat since Antetiam during the Civil War. Semi-Finals: Mike Vs. Warhammer Man (Codename: Whoop-Arse) *Duel 1* Not much to say here. His deck looked almost like mine, only with a Magician of Faith and more 7-Colored Fish and Maha Vailo. He never stood a chance. Between Mirror Force, Ragieki, Painful Choice, Confiscate, Monster Reborn, Witch of the Black Forest, and 3 Summoned Skulls, Mike was blown away faster than a straw house in a hurricane. *Duel 2* See above, only throw in a Blue Eyes and Invader of the Throne on the enemy's side, along with Darkness Approaches. That was pain in its entirety. Semi-Finals Winner: Warhammer Man We didn't stay for the finals. We were broke, tired, and I just saw a happy couple walk into the store (CHOKE, GAG,) so we made for the sanctuary of Pauls Valley and Maysville. With our egos deflated and our wounds being licked, we vowed to get an E-Bay account and return the next week. And that we shall, my friend. That we shall. Questions? Comments? Suggestions? Anyone willing to trade for the ritual card for Relinquished? E-mail me! boy_asterik@hotmail.com I'd love to hear from you! And remember kids - No matter how good you think you are, no matter how rocking your deck may be, those who play Warhammer are gonna take you to school. Thank you.
