I decided to change my deck Saturday night to a defensive deck just for the fun of it. So I dismantled the Disruptor Deck and went through my binder for the parts that would combine to form the Walls of Jericho, or Alan for short. 1st match Opponent: Steffon (Mr. Beatdown) Steffon is currently number 2 at our store. He is one of the few that is sticking to his original deck: beatdown. He’s a good duelist, and he usually goes in streaks. He’ll win a bunch of matches, then the next week he wouldn’t do too good. I don’t know, but it could have been from a Mind Blast that he received during a duel with Geraldine. Since my deck was going against a beatdown, I figured that this would tell me whether this deck was ok and can win some duels, or if it’s bad. Let’s duel! First duel, I get destroyed. I did a total damage of 650 LP. Back to the drawing board I guess. Second duel, I’m not sure if he had a bad draw, but I was in the duel the whole time. I was able to get Toll early, and that kept hitting his LP while he attacked my monsters in DEF position. I knock his LP to zero with mine at 2600. Third duel, I pulled out the victory thanks to Messenger of Peace. 2nd match, semi-finals Opponent: Geraldine (Earth-theme beatdown) Geraldine came prepared to duel, and even had a side deck with some cards just for my Disruptor Deck. The only problem was that I wasn’t dueling with my Disruptor. First duel, I suffer a severe beating. It was over in 5 turns, and she still had 8000 LP. Second duel, she couldn’t draw any monsters and I was able to reborn her Barrel Dragon to help me win. Third duel, I was able to stall with the Messenger of Peace for 7 turns, which helped me setup my walls and get a little Shield and Sword action going for the win – Joey style! 3rd match, finals Opponent: Jeff (Control Deck) Jeff used to duel with his Aged Cheese deck, but before the tournament started, he let me know that he had changed his deck. I was surprised, since his deck was doing well already, but I let him know that I changed mine also. We met in the finals, and dueled against each other for the third or fourth week in a row. Let me keep this short, I lost both duels pretty bad. Jeff went on the win the championship. Peace! What’s up! to the hardcore Yu-Gi-Oh! gamers at a World of Books, keeping the game going. Get lost! to the thieves that steal cards. Serf buffserf@yahoo.com
