Collectors Corner Major Castleberry Beat Downage Ownzor Deck Piedmont, CA. 7/27/02 My name is Major. The tournament I attended was at a place called Collectors Corner in Oakland, CA. There were no japs allowed and all restrictions and rules from the Yu-gi-oh! rulebook were to be followed directly as stated within. The tournament was good, the people were nice, and unfortunately almost got screwed over by a semi-bogus call. But all in all, it was awesome! I arrived at around 12:00 noonish and the tournament was to start at 2:00pm. I like to come early to be able to scout the competition that have the inexperience to duel and show their deck off before the beginning of the tournament and also trade. Before the tournament, I was fortunately able to trade for a Mirror Force, Tribute to the Doomed, 2 Magician of Faith, Soul Exchange, Pot of Greed and a Barrel Dragon. Nice trades huh? Heres my 3 tournament winning deck: Total Cards:42 3 Magician of Faith 3 Man-Eater Bug 3 7 Colored Fish 3 Electric Lizard 2 Big Eye 3 Summoned Skull 2 Sanga of the Thunder 1 Suijin 1 Barrel Dragon 3 Fissure 3 Last Will 2 Heavy Storm 2 Soul Exchange 1 Pot of Greed 1 Change of Heart 1 Monster Reborn 1 Dark Hole 1 Tribute to the Doomed 3 Robbin Goblin 2 Trap Hole 1 Magic Jammer 1 Mirror Force Rd. 1: I played against a little kid with okay cards. He was definitely no match and I easily advanced to the second round easily. Rd. 2: Against guy named Anthony. Looked pretty experienced, but proved to be a little otherwise. Good guy, though. He played a deck with weaker cards, depending on the one polymerization in his deck to activate fusion monsters. I beat him easily, with the basic monsters in my deck. I also executed some pretty smooth plays involving Magician of Faith to beat him as well. Rd. 3: I played supposedly the best person at the tournament besides me. He used strong cards as I did, and used some good monster removal. It was the match that everyone was watching, and I almost got screwed over because the guy was losing. Weve exchanged a lot of damage, 2nd duel of the match and Im one up on him. He has 1050 life points remaining, and I have Man-Eater Bug on the field slowly chipping away at his life points. Then he says the most absurd thing: in the rule book, it states that I can only play Magic cards during my own turn. The tournament judge, who is only in a grade higher than me, suggested that we scoop and start it over. I scooped, but then decided to look in my rule book. I then discovered that Magic Cards may be played during a main phase; making no insinuation that I couldnt play Magic during his turn. I molded them all. We started arguing, and Edmond, my opponent, started to back down. He knew he was wrong, and was ashamed of himself. We got 4 packs each, but I gave a proposal and we battled with one pack on the line for the first prize which was 5 packs. The loser would get second with 3 packs. I whooped his sorry cheating butt and took his pack with pride. He left quickly in shame. Hahaha. Props to: Anthony for being a cool pal and Dean I think, for bein so grateful for the cards I gave ya. Slops to: The judge for being so sloppy; he made more mistakes. Edmond, for trying to cheat me when he was down. Major Castleberry rojam_us@yahoo.com
