My name is Kevin. I played at a tournament on December 7th at a little card shop in Salina, Kansas called the arena. The entry fee was 5 bucks. There were 50-55 people at the tournament. (No lie) It was kind of like a round robin style. You would have four rounds. You get 40 minutes each round. You get 2 points for each game you win. Every round you play against opponents with the same amount of points as you. Lose two games and you’re eliminated. 16 people with the most points after four rounds play in a single elimination bracket. First place gets 12 psv packs, second gets 6 psv pack’s, third gets 4 psv packs, and fourth gets 2 psv packs. Everyone gets a pack for entering. Here’s my deck.

2x Gravity Bind

This deck is a stalling direct damage deck.

                                                            Round 1 vs. Bud

I got matched up against Bud. The person everybody thinks is the King of Games. People are afraid of playing him. I don’t back down from him because I have beaten him times before. Besides, I have the title of champion of the first tournament. Bud runs a real quick beat down deck that can do tons of damage in one turn.

            Duel 1: I won easy.

Duel 2: Every thing was going fine and all of a sudden, BOOM! It’s over. Man he can do a chunk load of damage in one turn.

Duel 3: Bud flipped over MEB to kill my only face down monster and attacked. I had 250 life points and would have lost to his attacking monsters but I activated gravity bind. He could have attacked with MEB but forgot. Ha, lucky me. On my next turn I set a WOI face down but Bud activated shadow of eyes. I set down a third toll so bud could not attack with out losing all his LP and I set down a just desserts. I ended my turn smelling victory… Time’s up! $h!t. Bud could have done nothing his turn and he knew it and I would have won with just desserts on my next turn. I lost because he had more life than me at the end. Wow, one more loss and I’m gone.

                                                            Record 0-1     0 points

                                         Round 2 Me vs. Cameron

Cameron is a friend of mine. The duels were not worthy of mentioning. I trashed him. He is still in his newbie stage and runs a random beat down deck.

                                                Record 1-1  2 points

                                                Round 3  vs. Bye

Yes! I got a bye, that’s good. Or so I thought. I found out you only get 1 point win you get a bye. That’s terrible, I’ve already lost one game I can’t afford only one point now. How unfair! Oh well, we’ll see how that effects me later.

Record 1-1  3 points  Easy point but I would have rather token the chance and dueled for the 2 points but what can you do.

Round  4  vs. Shane (4 points)

Shane is another one of the great duelists in the area. Both duels weren’t easy but I won both. He runs a umi/legendary fisher man deck/water deck. Really cool deck but his downfall was that he had 50 cards in his deck.

Duel 1: Not much to say. I won

Duel 2: I was going to deck him but I drew a tremendous fire and beat him with that. I got my gravity bind out and he just couldn’t get anything going.

                                                Record 2-1    5 points

There was one spot left and the 4 cheated people with 5 points had to duel it out to get the last spot. You will get 2000 life points and will duel only one duel. Cool, 2000 life points is nothing to my direct damage deck. I knew it would be easy. I played a young kid and never got to see his deck. I started, played tremendous fire and set a MoF. He set all his cards face down. I flipped my MoF to get back tremendous fire for the win.

The next one I went first and played my toll. My opponent attacked three times to and got down to 950 LP and I used a tremendous fire to win.

Whoo! Hoo! I get the last spot.

                                                            Round 5  vs. Bam

Bam runs a beat down deck with three Dream Clown. When he gets two out on the field at the same time it’s trouble.

Duel 1: I got gravity bind out early and he couldn’t do a thing. He was victim to my direct damage.

Duel 2: I did manage to get gravity bind again but he got those two Dream clown out on the field. When he does that he can kill a monster of mine per turn. He destroyed all my monsters and equipped one with two malevolent nuzzler and an axe of despair. Since the clown is at level three that allowed him to be able to attack me. I went from a lot of life points none real fast.

Duel 3: I beat him quick after his Dream clowns got mirror forced.

                                                                        Record 3-1

                                                            Round 6  vs. Amanda

Amanda is one of the three girls that play yu-gi-oh in our area. She has a very good beatdown deck.

Duel 1: The first duel she got out a solemn wishes, ouch. She stalled and decked me out.

Duel 2: Wow, I beat her so fast it’s not funny.

Duel 3: She was in control for almost the whole duel until my princess of tsuguri did 2000 damage. I took the lead by 100 points. About that time there was only a couple of minutes left. Our first duel took up the whole time. It took 20 minutes. Anyway tensions started to build and with less than a minute left we were both screaming at each other “Are you done yet, GO!” afraid of losing. In the end I won by 150 lp. Wow, what a close one.

                                                            Record 4-1

                                                            Round 7  vs. Alex

Duel 1: I don’t remember much. Long story short, he won

Duel 2: Same as duel 1,  but I won.

Duel 3: I was in complete control. I was going to win. I was going to the finals. Alex’s turn, I have three monsters in defense mode. He uses two tribute to the doomed and a MEB to kill my defense and attacks me for 4300 damage. I only have  4250 LP left. Well, I still get to duel for 3rd place.

                                                            Record 4-2

                                                            Round 8  vs. Matt

Matt is a 35 year old who got into yu-gi-oh by his kids. I’m not sure what kind of deck he ran. He doesn’t really have a theme. I’m tired so I am not going to say much about the match.

            Duel 1: I got decked

Duel 2: I beat him fast with direct damage.

Duel 3: Time ran out and I won because I had 1000 more LP than him.

                                                            Record 5-2
