Subject: "Revenge of the White Tiger", White Tiger, Wizard's Tower, Ottawa Dec.8 ,2002 Name: White Tiger (nickname) Place: Wizard's Tower Cost: $5.00 Prizes: Tournament pack for everyone, probably a booster box for the winner For those of you who only read tournament reports about people who win the whole tourney, this report isn't one you'd read. This is a report from the average duelist's point of view. Here it is! ..... This tournament was crazy! I was going to make a lot of good trades before today but I couldn't so I had to change my deck around a bit. When I got there everyone was hurrying through their decks to make them legal with the new restrictions. This family in front of me in the line to enter was obsessed. Even the parents knew a lot about Yu-Gi-Oh. They were really serious which was pretty funny. I run a deck that looks like a mess, but I actually thought a lot about combos, themes, and strategies. There are just too many! I'm trying to make a strategic beat-down. I try to get either Dark or Earth type monsters. Here's the Revenge of the White Tiger: Total: 67 Normal Monsters: 20 1 Blue Eyes White Dragon 2 Summoned Skull 1 Judge Man 1 La Jinn the Mystical Genie of the Lamp 1 Darkfire Soldier #1 3 Darkfire Soldier#2 2 Girochin Kuwagata (couldn't get rid of them) 1 Neo the Magic Swordsman 1 Battle Ox 1 Giant Sodier of Stone 1 Mystical Elf 2 High Tide Gyojin 2 Ryu-Kishin Powered 1 Man-Eating Treasure Chest Effect Monsters: 15 1 Shadow Ghoul 2 Jirai Gumo 1 Dark Elf 1 Wall of Illusion 2 Man-Eater Bug 1 Witch of the Black Forest 1 Mysterious Puppeteer 1 Hane-Hane 2 Trap Master 1 Princess of Tsurugi 1 Milus Radiant (took it out because I couldn't make some trades) 1 Bite Shoes 1 4-Starred Ladybug of Doom Magic: 23 1 Monster Reborn 1 Dark Hole 1 Heavy Storm 1 Card Destruction 1 Change of Heart 1 Soul Release 1 The Forceful Sentry 1 Dian Keto the Cure Master 1 Ookazi 1 Fissure 1 Soul Exchange 1 Last Will (took it out after the tourney) 1 De-Spell 1 Monster Recovery 2 Ground Collapse 1 Horn of the Unicorn 1 Malevolent Nuzzler 1 The Reliable Guardian 1 Sword of Deep-Seated 1 Sword of Dark Destruction 1 Invigoration (just until I can get rid of some cards) 1 Germ Infection Trap: 9 1 Shadow of Eyes 1 Robbin' Goblin 1 Waboku 3 Trap Hole 1 Just Desserts 1 Fake Trap 1 Metal Detector Monsters to Magic/Trap card ratio 43:39 Side Deck: didn't need it (I put Milus Radiant in here) This was the first tournament that I never got killed because unplayable monsters. I got to the front of the line and payed. Kathy (she's in charge of the standings) told me I was going to duel someone named Ashley. It took me a while but I found her and the first round started. Round 1 Me (White Tiger) vs. Ashley Duel 1 Me: 8000 - 4400 - 3400 - 2200 Ashley: 8000 - 5900 - 3500 - 1500 - 0 She went first. I saw that she played a Harpies / Wind deck (a lot of Harpie's Brothers and La Jinns). I used Ryu Kishin Powered or Man-Eating Treasure Chest with Sword of Deap-Seated for that first dent in her LP's. We matched eachother hit for hit but I won in the end. Duel 2 (Should have gotten Milus out of Side Deck) Me: 8000 - 3200 - 0 Ashley: 8000 - 6500 or something like that She went first because she chose to. She used Elegant Egotist (Harpie Lady Sisters), La Jinns, and Harpie's Brothers to Wipe me out. I knew I had to play more fiercely to win the round. Duel 3 Me: 8000 - 7000 - 8000 - 7000 - 6500 - 3800 Ashley: 8000 - 6000 - 5300 - 4300 - 3800 - 4300 - 4800 - 100 - 600 - 0 I went first. I played 2 Ground Collapses (total control). when she couldn't play mons I played Dark Elf with Malevolent Nuzzler. I attacked her LP's once, used Dian Keto then attacked again. She used Cyber Jar so I paid 500 LP's to get Malevolent Nuzzler. She put down some Magic card that boosts her LP's by 300 each time she picks up. This is where things got crazy: I equipped Ryu Kishin Powered with Horn of the Unicorn and Malevolent Nuzzler! I kept attacking with it and other monsters (she could still only play 1 monster @ a time because of Ground Collapses) until I won. That was probably the best duel I ever played. Round 3 vs. COLE (pro) I have seen him duel @ previous tournaments and I was thinking on thing.... I'm doomed. I was right Duel 1 - he beat me in 2 turns He got my Dark elf out of my graveyard (I already attacked and lossed 1000 LP's), got a Goblin Attack Force out of his graveyard, and played another GAF. Direct Damage. (I put a few scratches on his LP's.... well just a few) Duel 2 - I lost in 4 turns -more crazy cards played by him After I got my tourney pack I watched a few duels, helped two little kids who were dueling, and made some trades. I got some tips and learned new strategies. Now its time for............. PROPS and SLOPS Props: -to Pojo for posting my report -to Kathy for managing the million standings -to everyone who came and made the tournament exciting -to me for trading Princess of Tsurugi for a Shadow Ghoul and a Rush Recklessly after the tournament -a lot of others Slops: -none Thank You for reading my report!
