The demise of my Gate Guardian deck. By John A. So…. I've made this deck for a while, and even though I admit that there are problems with this deck, I only lose to the eventual champ every week (Reed). With that being said, I do like the strengths of this deck though. With the speed of the Momongas and germs. So the story goes… Round one: I play this kid who I've never seen play here before. He's got your average creatures, but I saw no equip magic cards to speak of. He would attack my face down creature with a Black Forest Witch, only to find out that it was a Soldier of Stone. Take 900. Plus he would readily kill the momonga, give me life and I'd get two more. Next round, out comes Sanga!!. Left in my hand were two cards, a Gate Guardian, and another Gate Guardian. Pretty much happens in the second duel except I used a spear Cretin to bring back a Sanga, and he brought back a Summoned Skull. And then sacrificed it for a Shadow Ghoul! He equipped it to kill Sanga, but he forgot about GG piece abilities. He took a quick 2600, lost his creature, and then took another 2600 on my turn. Round two: Due to an odd number of contestants, I got a bye for this round. Round three: Since Reed got a bye the first round, and I got the bye in the second round, for the semis, I had to face Reed, with this crappy kid getting a bye to go straight to the finals. So anyway… The first game goes by Quickly for me, with me taking it in the gut by 2 Mechanical Chasers, one equipped with an axe of despair. Things would have been different, but he magic jammered a Tribute to the doomed. I knew I should have Heavy Stormed. I had it in my hand! The second round was a little different. With the help of nimble momongas, my life went up to 12000. Still with the amount of monster removal that he had, he removed all of my small creatures. He used a cyber jar, I used a cyber jar, then I used a spear cretin to get back a GG piece, I knew he was going to get a man eater-bug, when he flipped over, it was a cyber jar! I had no small creatures left, he found 2 seven colored fish, a witch, and a wall of illusions. 5700 damage! Needless to say, I lost. He easily beat that crap kid in the finals. But since Season 1 is over, and Greg did not have season 2 packs yet, he got one season 1 pack containing a burning spear, and a few PSV boosters. He won't be there next week, so I may have a chance. But if PSV is legal by Saturday, I'm going back to harpies!!!!!!! My son also played in the tourney, but I don't know his deck make-up, and he lost in the first round. Anyone in the central Jersey area, come to Greg's sports cards on Saturday @ 1:00 for the Yu-Gi-Oh tourney Email: krazy_kilroy@mad.scientist.com
