Final Assault Deck Matt Fillman Richard's Card Shop Santa Paula, CA December 23th, 2002 # of Duelists: 12 Hey, hey! Well, another weekend, another Tournament. First of all, I realized that I'd completely forgotten to mention two of the major changes in my Deck from last week. First of all, once I finally cleared up the confusion about whether or not life-paying cards are optional, I finally got a 1st Edition Imperial Order! Also, Michizure was really nothing but a waste of space, so I replaced it with a 1st Edition Dust Tornado, and it's really been working out great! As for this week, I finally got my favorite card.... the one card that got me into Duel Monsters in the first place: Time Wizard! Some people don't like Time Wizard, and I say "meh" to everyone who doesn't. Time Wizard is the best for that one last attempt to turn the tide of the duel! I swapped it for one of my Masks of Darkness, since one is usually all I need to do what I have to do. Unfortunately, the one I got was bent, but I'll get a mint condition one soon enough. Some people may not care what condition their cards are in as long as they can use 'em, but I keep all my cards in perfect condition, so hopefully I'll get myself a new Time Wizard soon! I also decided to put a Blue-Eyes White Dragon in my Deck, since I'm mostly about attacking, and you don't get much more attack than 3000! So, I traded my Barrel Dragon to the Card Shop owner for Blue-Eyes White Dragon (the Ultra-Rare version in LOB.... perfect condition, too!). Speaking of Blue-Eyes, My friend Mark started selling his cards since he's desperate for money for his new PS2, but he says he'll get back into the game once the Yugi and Kaiba Structure Decks come out. Anyway, he actually GAVE me his promo Blue-Eyes White Dragon! I didn't want to overload my Deck with Tributing Monsters, though, so I just decided to alternate between Blue-Eyes White Dragons each Tournament for now. Anyway, he started out by setting a Man-Eater Bug, but I used Change of Heart and forced it to destroy itself before attacking him directly with Goblin Attack Force. He used Tribute to the Doomed on my Goblin Attack Force, but I protected myself with Waboku and managed to pull Swords of Revealing Light. I set my Cyber Jar, but he used his Change of Heart to flip it and draw four new monsters (I only drew one). I would've been worried if it hadn't been for my next draw.... Time Wizard! I managed to call the flip correctly, reborn my Jinzo, use Premature Burial on Goblin Attack Force, and finish the Duel with all of them. Round 2 Me vs Luis I don't know how this kid got into the Advanced Tournament, but whatever. I started things off by using Change of Heart on his Witch of the Black Forest, summoning Goblin Attack Force, and attacking him with both of 'em. He tributed for Jinzo and destroyed my Goblins.... and that's when I really lost it (I love my Goblins)! I equipped Snatch Steal to his Jinzo, reborned Goblin Attack Force, and tore his Life Points apart! Round 3 Me vs .............oh, yeah, nobody! There were only three Duelists left, so we played Rock-Paper-Scissors, and the odd-man out got to automatically shift into the Finals (I felt like part of the freakin' Ginyu Force!). Anyway, Ted and Sal both used Scissors on my Paper, so they Dueled each other while I watched. It felt like a pretty cheap way to advance, but we did it fair and square. Round 4 Me vs Ted FINALLY! I didn't have to duel Sal this week! Mwahahahaha! Anyway, he set down a few Trap Cards and set a monster, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I used Dark Hole on his monster and tried to attack directly with Gearfried the Iron Knight, but he used Waboku and set another monster. This time, I used Tribute to the Doomed and tried attacking directly again, but he used another Waboku! At this point, I started to realize he had nothing to really threaten me, so I started getting all my monsters out and kept hacking away at his Life Points. In a last-ditch effort, he used Call of the Haunted and Premature Burial to set up some defenses, but I summoned Goblin Attack Force and managed to get in enough LP damage to finish this duel! I don't know; it's cool that I won again and all, but it's kinda lame having one person win all the time. I could either just not enter in next week's Tournament or purposely lose, but then that would suck not to have played my best (or played at all) so I don't know. Hopefully I'll get hammered next week so someone else can claim 1st Place (I know that sounds weird, but whatever). It's all about just having fun, anyway.... Pros for the Weekend: -winning the Tournament -trading my extra Swords of Revealing Light and Holo Monster Reborn for Time Wizard! -pulling Mirror Wall from the pack I got for helping put stuff away -trading Barrel Dragon for the Ultra-Rare Blue-Eyes White Dragon (LOB) -getting the promo Blue-Eyes White Dragon from Mark Cons for the Weekend -winning the Tournament -pulling zip from my two prize packs That about covers this weekend.
