Harpie’s Storm Deck Colby Barker Deep Blue Sea, Huntsville, Texas Saturday, December 14,2002 There were 18 duelist participating in the tournament… First off, the Deck… As you will notice my deck is based on a theme, which is wind and every card I have benefits another card, for example: Notice I have 1 (soon to be 3 ) Magician of Faith’s (MoF’s) Because my deck is an all out monster/magic deck with no traps, I have more room for magic, which is when Mof’s become the most useful monsters in my deck. I guess you can say it’s an anti-trap deck without the Jinzo. Just think about it, Raigeki, a card nobody likes to see can be brought back 3 times! Some people might say, “No traps! Are you crazy! No deck can survive without traps!” Well their in for a surprise…. Normal Monsters: This is basically my beat-down team.. (x3)Harpie’s Brother ( My basic, and coolest beat-down card ) (x3)Girochin Kuwagata ( This one took me a while to say ) -Whenever I get my Harpie Ladies Sisters, I can throw in my 3 Harpie Ladies and my 3 Elegant Egotist, which should double the strength of my deck.. Effect Monsters: Okay, this is where the fun begins.. (x3)Blade Fly ( My special little power-up bug ) Magician of Faith ( Hello Raigeki and Nobleman of Cross-out! ) (x2)Man-eater Bug ( A card no deck can do without! ) (x2)4-Stared Ladybug of Doom ( Killer effect ) Spear Creatin ( Get back my Mof’s ) Witch of the Black Forest ( got to get those MoF’s! ) Cyber Jar ( A must-have ) -I will get 2 more Mof’s very soon, which is a must-have for my deck.. Magic: What my deck is based on.. (x2)Giant Trunade ( Up..up..and away! ) (x2)Raising Air Current ( Powers just about all of my monster’s attacks by 500 points ) (x2)Heavy Storm ( Ha! Traps u say… ) Monster Reborn ( A deck without this just isn’t a deck ) Change of Heart ( See Monster Reborn ) Fissure ( Good little card ) Dark Hole ( See Change of Heart ) Dian Keto the Cure Master ( Got to heal up! ) Pot of Greed ( I’m feeling a little greedy…) Tribute of The Doomed ( Very useful card ) Delinquent Duo ( What’s that?! An Exodia deck! No prob.. ) Nobleman of Cross-out ( My personal favorite ) Mystical Space Typhoon ( You’re not going to use that Change of Heart are you? ) (x3)Tailor and the Fickle ( I prefer to equip the fun way… ) -Like I said before, I’m waiting some cards so I can use my Elegant Egotist. And I’m hoping to trade my Mirror Force for a Raigeki soon, and get another Nobleman of Cross-out and Giant trunade… Now for the Tournament… Finally, the tournament part. Time to test out my new deck. Basically, there are 3 people in the tournament that are hard to beat, Michael, Jack, and my best-friend Jonathan (who doesn’t go very often). Today I only had to worry about 1 of them, and that was Michael… 1st Duel Opponent: Colton Age: 7 (guess) Competition level 1-10: 1 Deck type: (Basically a throw every card you got in to it deck, lol ) Round 1- This opponent was very easy, he didn’t know any rules, and just filled his deck with every monster he could get a hold of. The duel started out with him putting weak monsters in attack, so I very easily took him out. He never even touched my life points. Results: Me -8000- lpts Colton -0- lpts Round 2- This round is basically a repeat of round 1, again he did not touch my life points. Results: Me -8000- lpts Colton -0- lpts 2nd Duel Opponent: Matt Age: 10 Competition level 1-10: 3 Deck type: A mixture of toons and and a lot of tribute monsters Round 1- This opponent was much more skilled than the last, and is actually pretty good, despite his age. His deck consisted of toon monsters and tribute monsters for the most. He knew the rules pretty well, but didn’t really know the difference of summoning and setting. We started of with him setting a stone soldier, which was a surprise to me, but on my 2nd turn I drew my field card, which gave me the bonus I needed to kill it and the prevent rat with my level 4 harpie bro and girochin kuwagata. On his 3rd turn, he used toon world and special summoned a toon mermaid, then tributed it for summon skull. Playing toons on me was a big mistake, not knowing I had 2 heavy storms and 3 giant trunades ( 2 of which was in my hand ) he put out another mermaid. I took no life point damage becase toons can’t attack the turn that they are summoned, so in my next turn I basically wiped out his whole field with my heavy storm, leaving his life points open. Soon he was at 0, and he got me down to 6400 using a couple of burner cards. Result: Me -6400- lpts Mat -0- lpts Round 2- This was a repeat of the last match, exception is he didn’t get my life points under 7000. He brought out a toon mermaid, but knew that I would eventually kill it fast, as I did. The problem he had was that he didn’t have enough level 4 monsters in his deck. Result: Me -7200- lpts Matt -0- lpts 3rd Duel Opponent: Heath Age:13 Competition level 1-10: 7 Deck type: Mainly Dark, with good magic cards Round 1- This duelist is much better than the last 2, this is when I get serious and try to win. The duel started off with him playing a man-eater. Luckily I had a dark hole in my hand and played it, then summoned harpies bro and hit him for 1800. The duel started to heat up when he pulled a fissure, dian keto, and set cyber jar, which was unexpected. Not knowing what it was, I attacked it, destroying my 2 harpie bros and girochin. I came back with a cyber jar of my own, and when I knew what was In his hand, I used delinquent duo, discarding a pot of greed and tribute of the doomed. From there the battle when on and he dealt a great deal of damage to my life points, bringing me down to 3400, but soon after that I finished him off. Result: Me -3400- lpts Heath -0- lpts Round 2- This round was similar to the 1st, we both had our good and bad points but something happened in this duel , Michael, who I would soon face in the final, got a “by” and was watching us duel sitting on my side. Well, he had been looking at my hand and my field, then when Heath started to make a play, he shook his head no and signaled him not to. This actually cost heath the duel beacase he probably would have come out of that round victorious if it hadn’t been for Michael Well we had to replay that round, which Heath did win, by 100 points! But I beat him in round 3, using a combination of giant trunade , change of heart, and monster reborn. Result: Me -0- lpts Heath -100- lpts ( Don’t u just hate it when that happens! ) Round 3- This round went fairly quick, I pulled out my good cards early and beat him with ease.. Result: Me -6700- lpts Heath -0- lpts 4th and final Duel Opponent: Michael Age-13 Competition level 1-10: 8 Deck type: Dark, strong monsters, good traps Round 1- Michael was much easier than I thought, I managed to take him out fairly quick in the 1st round, using my beat down monsters. Result: Me -6500- lpts Michael -0- lpts Round 2- Now this was much different than round 1, for me, this round was basically a “stay alive’ round because he was pounding me good and kept using his traps, un able to draw my heavy storms and trunades at the beginning, he managed to get a couple magic jammers down which really hurt me. After using up all of my trunades and heavy storms, I thought he was going to win, untill I had drawn a mystical space typhoon and nobleman of cross-out. I managed to destroy his change of heart with typhoon and cross out his man-eater ( whew ) then flip MoF to bring back heavy storm. I used heavy storm and now his field was clean and he was standing at 2000 lpts. I didn’t have any monsters so I set cyber jar, which saved me the duel. Cyber jar’s effect resulted in him drawing all m/t and me drawing 2 monsters, which was all I needed. Unable to do anything, he passed his turn, then I summoned a girochin kuwagata, along with the harpies bro and witch of the black forest I already had on the field. I attacked his lpts and it was over ( finally ) . Ending results: Me -1100- lpts Michael -0- lpts My prize was a booster from each series and each tourney booster. Not bad..
