A fair amount of newbs showed up, but there were some pretty good duelists too. Match 1 Devan vs Fab Duel 1 Devan(me)8000-5500-2750 Fab:8000-6200-3700-1200-0 What can I say about Fab. He was a great guy. Fairly new to the game, but had some really great strategies for his deck. His deck was more or less a direct damage/beatdown deck. This duel took a fair amount of time to finish. We just kept handing each other trap holes and such. Until I finally dark holed the field and brought out a La Jinn and attacked for the first piece of damage. I summoned Jirai Gumo and lost the coin toss and he played waboku. He then change of hearted my La Jinn and brought out his summoned skull and attacked for direct damage. I then did the same thing to him and brought out my summoned skull and that won the rest of the game for me. Duel 2 Devan(me)8000-6100-5300-3650 Fab8000-7300-4450-0 This duel went by more quickly. We exchanged blows for a while until I flipped a MoF and brought back a TttD. He then brought out a summoned skull from his graveyard and attacked my MoF. I then TttD his summoned skull and brought out my own and attacked his La jinn for 700 points of damage. He went downhill from there. He played a monster face down and I played MEB face down. I destroyed his monster with SS. he played another monster then I flipped MEB destroying his monster and leaving his field open for a direct attack. He couldn't play another monster down. So I finished the match. Me:2-0 Match 2 Me vs Daniel Duel 1 Devan 8000-7000-6200 Daniel 8000-7500-6400-5300-5800-2000-0 this kid had a 107 card deck. This took no effort to beat him. he had hardly any tribute cards and cards like petit dragon and such. I went slow on him because he was younger than most of the others. Just to boost his confidence. So I won't even go into details here. Duel 2 Devan 8000-1800 Daniel 8000-7500-6400-2800-2300-0 Same as before. Match 3 Devan vs Doug Devan 8000-7800-5300 Doug 8000-3700-0 This was the match I was waiting for. Although I would have prefered it for the champion spot of the whole tournament. But theres not much I can do about that. Doug is one of my friends that I brought along with me. Him and I were the top duelists there. This was one of the most intense duels I've ever had. This was the first tournament we had with this many people watching. Everybody that wasn't still playing for their spots at the top were watching us. We were both playing at the top of our forms. not letting anyone get away with any mistakes. We weren't able to do anything until after the first 8 turns. then LP were beginning to get lost. I lost the initial 200 LP for attacking with La Jinn on his mystical elf. He finally kept a monster on the field to bring out his SS, He used fissure and attacked me directly. Then I CoH his SS and played a 7 colored fish and attacked him directly. Then I used TttD on his SS and he was screwed for the rest of the duel. Duel 2 Devan 8000-7000-6700-4200-2400-1400 Doug 8000-5500-3700-1900-0 This duel was the luckiest one I have ever played. I started off the damage by bringing out a SS and attacked. he used waboku, but I used 7 tools. Then he used Sould Exchange of my SS and brought out his. I then layed Jirai Gumo down in attack mode. He destroyed that with SS and layed another monster face down. I couldn't do anything my next turn, so he attacked with SS directly. I then TttD (getting rid of my Time Wizard) his SS and ended my turn. He layed a La Jinn down and attacked directly again. finally I brought 7 colored fish. he tried to Trap hole it, but I played 7 tools bringing me down to 1400 LP while he was still up at 5500 LP. I then reborned Time Wizard and took it for its first spin since I got it 2 weeks ago. and would you believe it. I won the coin toss. I cleared his monsters with that and attacked with 7 colored fish. he could do anything again so i attacked with 7 colored fish again and I played a MEB face down. He played another monster face down and ended his turn. I then flipped MEB and attacked with everybody that I had on the field. I won this tournament with the most wins at 6-0 while all the others were at like 4-2 or so. But this was just a demo tournament and no prizes were given out. So there were 3 1st placers who won their championship spots. Props: -To everybody that came out -To my friend Doug for a heck of a match -To this one kid for trading me a 1st edition Sanga of Thunder for his Raigeki. (I have no idea if this was a fair trade because I have never traded before.) -To the store owners for holding tournament Slops: -to this one guy that would not accept my ruling on his ring of magnetism (I was the senior expert there next to Doug. The store owners knew that and asked my opinion on it and I gave it. The guy was a 20+ year old and saying things like "Dude, I think your wrong." When I say things in reply like "Dude, I know your wrong and I know I'm right. I have been in this situation before and made these mistakes. I know.") Bah! newbs -To this one guy who ended up getting ripped off by another kid for the barrel dragon I was looking for. While I was offering more than it was worth. (sanga, suijin, magic jammer, and a tribute to the doomed. All of which he didn't have) but oh well All in all. It was a great tournament.
