Subject: Dark Machina, Steve Strohl, On the Square, Jacksonville, IL 8/15 This is a tournament report about the Yu-Gi-Oh! Tournament that 16 people total participated in, including me, my friends Mike, Kevin, Ian, and Willy, and 11 guys, mostly 10-12 year olds... Anyways, I run a deck based around my favorite monster, Barrel Dragon, while my friends, who don't really take anything seriously (i.e. slackers) pretty much toss BEWDs and Trihorns with some random monsters and Fissures and call it a deck. The exception was Mike, who, for some inexplicable reason, was running a Gate Guardian deck... Before I get too far, here's my deck: Monsters (20) 2x Barrel Dragon 3x Summoned Skull 2x WotBF 2x Big Eye 2x Magician of Faith 3x Man-Eater Bug 3x La Jinn 3x 7 Colored Fish Magic/Trap (20) Raigeki Dark Hole Monster Reborn Mirror Force Pot of Greed Change of Heart 2x Tribute to the Doomed 2x Traphole 2x Soul Exchange 2x Magic Jammer 7 Tools of the Bandit Solemn Judgement 2x Robbin' Goblin Swords of Revealing Light Heavy Storm The matchups went like this 1: Ian vs Kid 2: Kid vs Kid 3: Willy vs Kevin 4: Me vs Kid 5: Kid vs Kid 6: Mike vs Kid 7: Kid vs Kid 8: Kid vs Kid To save space, I'll just cover mine and Mike's matches, I only saw him... Me VS Kid This was probably the easiest win I had...we were playing 1 duel disqualification i.e. lose once and you're gone. When I saw I had a Heavy Storm and a Dark Hole in the same hand, I prayed to myself that the coin flip would let me choose...it did, and I chose him to go first. He laid down 4 cards in the M/T zone, and a Dark Elf in ATK mode. I played my Heavy Storm and Dark Hole, clearing the field, and played La Jinn in ATK mode and hit him for 1800, then set a Magic Jammer down. On his turn, he drew and didn't lay anything down, so the next turn I tributed and got Summoned Skull out and hit him for 2500 more, next turn he played Raigeki, which I used Magic Jammer on, and he put a mon face down. On my turn, I drew TTTD, so I used it and sacrificed a Robbin' Goblin. Hit him for 2500 more. The next turn he put a mon face down. I played 7 Colored fish to attack it, it was a...Trapmaster. So I hit him again with Summoned Skull and won...easy as pie. Mike VS Kid Mike almost lost this one, what with the hard-to-get-outdness of the Gate Guardian and all. But fortunately, he also runs 3 Skulls along with 3 Trapholes and 3 Fissures. That, and the kid didn't play ANY mons face down, which told me he didn't know much about flip effects. Willy and Ian both lost theirs to kids with Lord of D. beatdowns. Kevin lost to an Exodia deck, which Mike beat... Long story short, It came down to me vs Mike. He chose himself to go first. He played 2 M/Ts and a mon face down. I played Change of Heart to flip the mon up, it was a MEB, but since there were no other mons, it destroyed itself, after that I laid a Traphole. I then put La Jinn in ATK mode and hit him for 1800. On his turn he fissured it and played a 7 Colored Fish, but I trapholed it. On my turn, I played a Big Eye face down and a 7 Tools face down. As I hoped, he activated his Ultimate Offering trap and paid a total of 1500 LP to get a Suijin out, which then attacked the Big Eye, so I looked thru my next 5 cards. Right now, the LP was me: 8000, Mike: 4700 My I arranged them, from top to bottom: Pot of Greed, Tribute to the Doomed, Monster Reborn, Mirror Force, Magician of Faith. Since it was my turn, I drew and played Pot of Greed. I used TTTD on Suijin, and put a Barrel Dragon in the Graveyard, and then played Monster Reborn, which he tried to Magic Jammer but I 7 Toolsed. I hit him for 2600, laid a Magic Jammer. On his turn, he tried to Raigeki but I Magic Jammered. He chuckled and played Monster Reborn to bring back Suijin. He didn't attack and ended his turn. I flipped a coin Heads Tails Heads Suijin was destroyed and I attacked for 2600 again, bringing his LP to zero, making me the winner. I got a preorder box of Magic Ruler for winning, Mike got 4 packs of 1/e LOB. _________________________________________________________________ Join the world’s largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com
