Andrew Novoa
By Tony Mera

6.13.07

Mera: Whats your name?

Novoa: Andrew Novoa.

Mera: Where do you live?

Novoa: I live In San bruno CA.

Mera: How old are you?

Novoa: 19.

Mera:What made you pick up Yu-Gi-Oh?

Novoa:I was getting tired of pokemon and was thinking about quitting card games, until my friend showed me a yugioh card. I started playing and loved the game.

Mera:Can you tell us your credentials you achieved in this game?

Novoa: I got 2nd place in SJC Denver, I got Top 8 at SJC anaheim, and 7 regional t8's.

Mera:What team are you on?

Novoa: Im on team J-spot. Short for junky spot. It was the name of the store we played at.

Mera: How did team J-spot come together?

Novoa: I was actually the one to start it after i first qualified back in 2004. That was also when the roster was different and we had less members.

Mera: How many members does J-Spot currently have?

Novoa: We currenly have 11 members.

Mera: Who from your team will be respresenting J-Spot at Nationals?

Novoa: Micheal Bueno, Keanson Ye, Raymond Ye, Gerard Ramirez, Chris Mooseman and I.

Mera: Can you explain the success of your team?

Novoa: Well we play alot during weekdays aside from just hanging out and we just play test with each other and give alot of support to each other.

Mera: Do you expect to play any certain teams at Nationals?

Novoa: Hopefully we play all the best teams from around the country at nationals. We want the best games we ever had.

Mera: What do you plan on accomplishing this year?

Novoa: I plan on going to worlds this year and becoming a SJC champion.

Mera: What are your views on the current banned list?

Novoa: At first i thought the list was horrible but now I think its awesome, because so many new decks are being created and winning.

Mera: Who do you think is the best team?

Novoa: At the moment I would have to say Overdose.

Mera: Has this game changed you in any way?

Novoa: The game has actually changed me im now more open to talking to new people, and I have become extremely competitive and it keeps me out of trouble.

Mera: How much have you made off Yu-Gi-Oh?

Novoa: Not even half of what I spent on tournament entry fees and trips.

Mera:What was your best Sjc experience?

Novoa: My best experience would have to be SJC Denver because it was my first top 8, and I hade to play the hardest people there to earn my spot into the top 8.

Mera: Can you tell us about your self outside of Yu-Gi-Oh?

Novoa: Im the same I'll be your best friend but get me in any game and its on, and you'll lose!

Mera: What is your favorite thing about Yu-Gi-Oh?

Novoa: To experience playing with alot of people from around the country, and sometimes even around the world.

Mera:What was your favorite feature match?

Novoa: I would have to say my feature match against Fili Luna at SJC Orlando.

Mera: Why?

Novo: Him and I are good buddys, but when we have to play eachother we go all out.

Mera: How long do you plan on still playing this game?

Novoa: I plan on playing this game untill it dies.

Mera: Who is your favorite player in Yu-Gi-Oh and why?

Novoa: Keanson ye is my favorite yugioh player, not just beacause he is good or my teammate. If you've seen that guy play he does moves you would have never thought of and he is very respectable when it comes to losing and winning.

Mera: How do you prepare for events that make you so prepared and ready unlike many others?

Novoa: We dont play the night before and we make sure we get plenty of sleep.

Mera: Do you have any advice to new playes, and to players who are trying to get to the next level to be just like you?

Novoa: All I can say is, it takes more losses then wins to to be a champion so no matter how many times you lose, observe deck types, people playing around you and just concentrate on winning.

Mera: Anything else you would like to say?

Novoa: J-Spot Ftw.
