Yugiman's Thoughts
Single Card Review: Snipe Hunter
December 20, 2006

In most recent sets, we haven't gotten much that was any good. And lately we haven't gotten anything really searchable with Tomato's. Tomato's are still being run, but didn't have as much to fetch via Reaper going to 3. CyberDark Impact came out and something worthwhile came in it that Tomato's can fetch.
Im looking at Snipe Hunter. The text for this card can be read as follows:

Snipe Hunter
Attack: 1500
Defense: 600
Fiend/Dark
Effect:
Discard 1 card from your hand. Select 1 card on the field and roll a six-sided die. If the result is not 1 or 6, destroy the selected card.

At first glance, we see that you have to discard 1 card from hand. This is somewhat good considering that you may have a useless card in hand that you may want to get rid of ie: Treeborn Frog, Night Assailant (fetch effect).
Select 1 card on field, and roll a dice....you have to get 2-5(60% chance of hitting either of them) and you'll blow it up. So you play a game of luck and your hoping it works.

This can be very effective in a Tomato control deck, with the 60% of blowing something up, I'd take the chances. 1500 attack isn't bad either, it can take down most monsters with low defense ie: Deko, Faith, Monarchs, etc. It doesn't have any requirements about if monster/spell/trap has to be face-up or not, so you can blow up anything. They could always chain though too, so watch out and play accordingly.

A lot of people are saying this is the less-powered Tribe Infecting Virus, which in could be. Watch for this card to be in many main decks and side-decks in future SJC's, as many people may take the risk for the reward.

Any suggestions for card reviews, or support/hatemail can be directed to freezergeezer111@hotmail.com. Thanks for looking at my article and hope to hear back from some of you.
