Yugiman's Thoughts
Single Card Review: Otohime
December 20, 2006

As the ban-list eventually started to knock out powerful cards, we have options of running other cards in their place. I'm surprised duelists haven't caught onto something that can be effective against swarms of Monarchs. Im looking at Otohime from the Legacy of Darkness set. The text of this card reads as follows:

Otohime
Spellcaster/Light/Spirit
3 Star
Attack: 0 Defense: 100
This card cannot be Special Summoned. This card returns to the owner's hand during the End Phase of the turn that this card is Normal Summoned, Flip Summoned or flipped face-up. If this card is Normal Summoned, Flip Summoned or flipped face-up, you can change the battle position of 1 monster on your opponent's side of the field.

A good part of last format was that Tsukuyomi could easily take down Monarchs via turning them f/d and attacking them. But we also had the Deko engine, faith engine too. It caused too much adv. They eventually banned it not realizing that it would be great against Monarchs this format. Looking through piles of commons, I ended up coming over Otohime. Isnt as great as Tsukuyomi but can turn them into defense. This makes them get killed easily, which is what we want.

0 attack aint doing much, and the 100 defense is the same too, but this can be very effective. Like other spirits it bounces back into hand, to be used again. This can be the worst top-deck though, so be careful when playing it, and play draw thingy's so you can achieve it quicker. Like any other spirits this card cannot be special summoned, but you can return it back with Pot of Avarice to be used again. Its def a card to test, maybe even side-deck it.

Any suggestions for card reviews, or support/hatemail can be directed to freezergeezer111@hotmail.com. Thanks for looking at my article and hope to hear back from some of you.
