Too much of a good thing
Sept. 28, 2006

YOU PEOPLE ROCK.

Just over the weekend I received 3 packages of cards. Some of them sent PRIORITY MAIL:P (THIS IS IMPORTANT TO POINT OUT B/C SHIPPING IS EXPENSIVE)

I'd personally like to share my appreciation for the amount of cards that have been donated this early in the drive. A few people had asked to remain anonymous, to those of you who asked that, I want you to know I thank you, the students thank you, and most importantly know that your sacrifice will be put to good use.

To the one packaged received at the moment from someone not asking to remain anonymous, as promised I will now make your contribution public.

I thank Daniel Geary and his son both for their overwhelming support. They not only sent common cards but a stack (A STACK) of holographic cards. Thank You. I want you to know that some of the cards will be sold to buy Protective sleeves and cases (thus guaranteeing a longer life for the donations) and other Holographic cards will be used as prizes for participating students. Once again to everyone who has donated cards, is donating cards, and plans on it; I thank you from the apex of my heart (A little Med. School Humor:P). Just the sheer number received has given me not only hope for this game, but changing my overall perspective of people in general. I restate to everyone once again, there are more good people than bad, more good then bad. Try and remember that as you all go throughout your daily routine. Remember that also whenever you begin to feel the slightest amount of distaste for your fellow man. As a species we should look to survive in numbers not as solitary predators.

Now onto the deck.

Water ecosystems work off of a very balanced distribution of numerous minerals, oxygen, along with the proper distributions of primary producers, consumers, etc.

Upon putting excess nitrates (run off of farm fertilizers) we see algae blooms erupt, in response bloom populations erupt. With increase population we see increase death of the organism. With the increasing number of organisms dying, more organisms are going to be decomposed by bacteria, that in turn disrupt the oxygen levels in the environment.

Such a phenomena is know as hypoxia (a deficiency of oxygen) and is a very biological demonstration of how too much of a good thing
not only disrupts an environment, but can be the end of it.

Now with eutrophic examples aside, Yu-Gi-Oh has a similar example. Drawing cards is the perfect example of a good thing. We love drawing cards, we love getting free draws, and we love advantage. But all the cards in the world can not help you if you have no deck to draw from the following turn:P

The mill deck has gone through its own evolution. In the beginning (when it won second place at last years worlds) used Cyber Jar, Shallow Grave, Book of Moon, Book of Taiyou, etc. But the current ban list, limiting, and banning of key cards has ended the archetype. As a concept mill has faded away.

Thus today I present to you an Aggro Mill deck. With the release of Chainsaw Insect and Destiny Hero Defender I believe the future of the archetype lies with its ability to either deck someone out or smash their face in.

Upon building this deck I was thinking of including Greed. A continuous trap card that deals 500 damage to a player for every card they draw as a result of an effect. Of course this card tended to hurt you, because if everything goes correctly, appropriate will be giving you free draws.

The deck plays aggressively and as such do not hesitate to think about being reckless. You'll find most opponents happy about having there LP drop to draw some cards. That is what we want. We want to summon, summon, and hit them for big damage. Either were going to win the game as a result of hitting them with big monsters, or we are going to comeback and maintain hand advantage with Appropriate, or simply deck our opponent out.

This deck does not only play aggressively, but can stall (compliments of D-Hero Defender) or flip Needle Worms for strait mill. With all the insects already sitting in the deck, I decided to add in 3 copies of Insect Knight (RAW AGGRESSION) to support a pair of Doom Dozers. Doom Dozer is a great card. Not only is he a special summon with huge stats, his effect allows us to mill. Thus whenever he hits an opponent they are going to be one card closer to losing the game through deck out.

A deck like this can be changed to fit a variety of play styles. For example, we could included The Bistro Butcher. His effect forces our opponent to draw 2 cards. Yet the way the deck is currently built it has a steady draw engine and it can hit hard and fast.

I recommend that all of you give it a try and let me know what you think.
