BEETLE NATION
April 12, 2006

Members of the Order Coleoptera, the group beetle belong, are the most successful Insect species in existence. With some 300,000 species world-wide they have evolved the ultimate fold-able wing. With there hard bodies and complete mastery of nature, they should be admired. Today's deck focuses on Saber Beetle, the most worthy of all the Insect tributes. No other tribute serves such a purpose. Ultimate Insect Lv. 5 and 7 become useless beatsticks but Saber Beetle does not lose his effect. Like the true insects, this monster has used natural selection and now in its prime has evolved a means of freely summoning it to the field.

In nature beetles tend to use their horns and enlarged mandibles to gain attention from females. They use them as a means of settling disputes and simply to establish dominance. Take a look at this deck sent to me by Andreas Anton Baatz and you will see why the beetle has gotten my attention.

I have been looking at Saber Beetle sense the day of its release and I love the card. A 2400 beatstick with trample, makes me think of a bug and a rug:P

His e-mail just made me squirm with excitement because he is using Insects most secret tool, Pinch Hopper. If you think about the name, he gets you out of a pinch by turning a tribute monster into a special summon. I love to see an opponent smack your Insect and then to question how to stop this 2400 beetle. On top of that we have Rivalry of Warlords to punish an opponent for playing multiple monsters. How you say, Cyber Dragon and Spirit Reaper on the First Move:P

Now his deck is well built but I decided to take my own approach. Let me know what you think

Now the Ultimate Insect Family would be at home in this deck, but I could simply not find any room for them. The deck plays very aggressively when it has too and can control the field with all its search based support. Swarm of Scarabs was not used because the deck already has numerous Monster Removal and a 2400 trampler to deal with monsters. Swarm of Locus can be searched out and then flipped down and up to destroy any pesky traps. Only search out Pinch Hopper when you have Saber Beetle, thus he will easily come to the field. This deck will have some issues when playing against flip-flop control, so side deck skill drain, mystic swordsman lv. 2, etc. But aggressive decks should give you no problems. Also Rivalry of Warlords is Sweet tech. It literally forces your opponent into a loss of field advantage. It will also shut down treeborn frog. If your opponent is setting behind a spirit reaper, the frog will not pose any problem. After you have established your free field, do not hesitate to summon Doom Dozer. This card is just cool and I honestly think one of the best support cards made in some time. The ability to swarm and hit hard is just too good not to use.

Go ahead and have fun, I know I am enjoying insects. Why wouldn't I?

My life is in their existence.

Team Necrosis members, continue sending me info regarding yourselves and make sure you visit the site.
