Pook's Place
Pook’s Frequently Asked Questions
4.08.05 - By Pook

Each week, I get many…ok, a few…emails from fans. Yes, I assure you, I do read them all. But over the past year (that’s right folks, we are just 4 weeks away from my 1 year mark!) I’ve read certain questions many, many times. So, rather than answering them all, I figure I’d show you the commonly asked questions, with my own brand of humorous responses.

Q. Can you rate my deck?

A. Yes…yes I can. <awkward silence>

Q. WILL you rate my deck?

A. Unfortunately, no. Pojo is full of deck experts and mechanics whose livelihood depends on these emails. So I leave it in their capable hands. And besides, most of the decks I see are cookie-cutter, and you all know how I feel about those. (Little hint – if I see BLS-EotB listed, I don’t even bother with the rest of the list, sorry).

Q. In this situation can <card name> do this?

A. Yes, but only if it’ll help you win. But seriously, I don’t know every single card ruling. I can figure out many (and even think of certain loop-holes) but I’m not an official source. Best bet, check out the Netrep Files. They know EVERYTHING…that is to say, they get all of their best information from Pojo…hehe…

Q. I really like your <type> deck. Can I use it?

A. Yup! Just make sure to credit me when you win. A “Pook’s Place 4 Life” tattoo will suffice.

Q. I have an idea for an article about <whatever>. Will you do an article about it?

A. Well…I don’t want to be deemed a plagiarist, so unfortunately I won’t. I will say I’ve gotten some really fun ideas over the past year, but I like to be creative. With that being said…

Q. How can I become a Pojo CotD/Feature writer?

A. Hard work, dedication, and cash bribes to current staff. Either that, or keep your eyes posted for the main page – sometimes requests are made, sometimes contests are held. But in the mean time, practice makes perfect. Anyone can make a “Killer Deck!” article, but it takes a certain level of wit and sarcasm to be a Pojo writer.

Q. Pook, can I name my first child after you?

A. YES! Actually, no one has ever asked this question. Ever. Oh well.

Q. Pook, you are so cool.

A. Thanks. That’s not really a question, you know…

And finally…

Q. What’s your favorite card?

A. Oooh, I HATE this question. There are a few at the top of my list. Paladin of White Dragons is a personal favorite, as is Breaker the Magical Warrior (MFC, my favorite set). Plus, you all know that I’m partial to Fire monsters, especially Solar Flare Dragon. But alas, I think that I’d have to go with one of the least playable monsters ever, but such a brilliant card, and that’s Dark Paladin. The monster, that is, not the Pojo staffer (but he is a heck of a guy). I’ve got the 1st edition misprinted picture and I refuse to trade it. I used to play it, and I used to lose a lot. Nonetheless, the card just rules. He’s dark, he’s wicked, and he’s a card I have!

Hope this answers all of your questions. The next few weeks are going to be the all-star countdown to the Pook’s Place One Year Anniversary, which is also the week of my 50th article! Expect some big surprises in the coming weeks, and something so new, so bold, it’s been in the works for almost 5 months now! Until next week, happy dueling!
