Cyber Phoenix =D
11-11-06

Ok I had a hard time figuring out what should be my first article but looking over my cards lately I pass by my 3x Cyber Phoenix ( pretty easy to doo since I run Machines =D ) then I got thinking this is what I should do for my first article. Now I loved theme support that doesn't suck like Supercharge is rather decent support for Roids or even better Icarus Attack is amazing support for Winged-Beast, Now usually over the last year most sets of either released countless new themes with little to no playable support that makes people want to break away from there more competitive deck types ( Monarchs etc ) to try out others or.... lots and lots of Hero cards =/.

Why do I mention this... well simple Cyber Phoenix is one of the few gems released that are actually good for the theme they're trying to support while not being do good to be splashable in any decks. Now next to Cyber Dragon & Limiter Removal this card is one of the best things ever for Machines and yes I put it before other Machine super stars like Cyber-Stein & Jinzo.

Cyber Phoenix
Fire
LV 4
ATK1200/1600DEF
Machine/Effect:
While this card is in face-up Attack Position on your side of the field, Negate the effect of any Spell or Trap Card that targets 1 Machine-Type monster on your side of the field. When this face-up on the field attacks or is attacked, and it is destroyed as a result and sent to the graveyard, you can draw 1 card from your deck.

Now when this card was released not so long ago in Enemy of Justice it quickly enter my attention as one of the best cards released in awhile ( Cyber Dragon/CRV, Treeborn Frog/SOI, and Pot of Avarice/EEN ) those or just a few examples. Now I fell in love with this card ever since I saw it in the EoJ spoiler list and went out of my way to collect three upon the release in english ( hehe kids love shininy E-Hero ) but I kept it in my trade binder until the fatefull and well timed future banning of the last Chaos monster but enough about me now back to card since now Light/Dark attributes can see some more play. Now to further the great field power of Cyber Phoenix another good card to run is UFO Turtle and maybe 1 or 2 copies of Creature Swap, Soo use UFO Turtles to help maintain field advantage and Creature Swap to steal there Dekoichi the Battlechanted Locomotive or Magician of Faith :P

Now first effect is rather simple it can negate and destroy targeting Spell/Trap effects which one big one comes to minf right away...hmmm Sakuretsu Armor which is best theme ruiner over for example nothing more entertaining to see all those cards needed for E-Hero Fusions to fall victim to Sakuretsu Armor =D. Now Sakuretsu Armor is one good card to stop or hinder since most people run either 2-3 of them but the list does have more like Ring of Destruction, Book of Moon, or Enemy Controller that does see some play in 1 or 2s ( or even 3s ? ) but unless your opponent isn't very smart they're not going to waste those above cards but at least it provides decent protection for the nasty Cyber Dragon + Cyber Phoenix drop. Now there is one card that you want to target Cyber Phoenix well kind of and that is Call of the Haunted, Now if you opponent trys to destroys CoTH while Cyber Phoenix is in the graveyard you bring it back then use the negation effect to keep the Cyber Phoenix on the field.

Now the secondary effect is what makes this card sweet now unless your opponent wasted removal like Smashing Ground for example they're stuck with a hard decision but if Cyber Phoenix is destroyed through battle you gain advantage ( 1:1 you lose Cyber Phoenix to gain back 1 card ). Now even if your opponent uses removal or attacks its still advantage but thats isn't always correct since a well timed Don Zaloog attacking the 1200 Cyber Phoenix ruins the advantage the Cyber Pheonix gains soo hmmm... look out for that =/.

Now I will be posting my version of my Machine deck featuring lots of Cyber Phoenix =D sometime in the future but if you have any comments or any suggestions I would like to hear all about it or any ideas for future articles since my main focus if putting the spotlight on underrated cards or my favourite deck designing just e-mail or even better PM on the message forums on Pojo...which is simple its mikej ( I like to keep things simple like my username ) or janzenmike@hotmail.com
