Conundrum: Time Control
August 31, 2006

So, do you remember those old puzzles that would be posted on Pojo where you had to win the game in one turn using some weird combos?  Well, I do, and I didn’t like them.  They were well crafted but I’d often wonder, who gets themselves into situations like this.  Now what’s more impressive is building a deck that’ll keep you out of those terrible situations.

So, like everything else lets put a new spin on an old idea.  I’ll suggest a deck to be built and you guys (and girls) can send them in to my e-mail.  The winner will have their deck featured on Pojo and will get fixed by the most beautiful man alive (put your hand down Tom Cruise).

Now what am I looking for?  Something off the wall.  Crazy!  Insane!  Competitive!  I mean reasonably not everything here will be tier 1, but you should make an effort to get it as close as possible.  Here are the things I’ll be judging on:

Score: __/100

Creativity (25 points)-  Old ideas get no new points.

Functionality (25 points)- It has to run, or else it doesn’t count.

Applicability (25 points)- Must be reasonable for the current environment.

Explanation (20 points)- Explain how and why your deck works.

X-Factor (5 points) – Can’t say much here just work your hardest to tech it out.

I’ll do my best to score each deck and give a brief explanation.  Mmmm what a great idea.  Not only do you guys get a deck fix, but you’ll get a deck onto Pojo.  Yea, that’s real cool.  So for the first challenge:

            Construct a deck that:

                        Runs 3 Time Wizards!

                        Has at least 2 Timeaters!

Could be competitive on the national level.

Timeater

[ Machine / Effect ]
Description:
If this monster destroys a monster on your opponent's side of the field in battle, your opponent skips his/her next Main Phase 1.

1900/1700

Time Wizard
[ Spellcaster / Effect ]
Description:
Toss a coin and call Heads or Tails. If you call it right, your opponent's monsters on the field are destroyed. If you call it wrong, your own monsters on the field are destroyed and you lose Life Points equal to half the total ATK of the destroyed monsters. This card can be used only during your own turn, once per turn.

500/400

That’s a nice easy way to start off.  Time control baby, let’s roll with it!  Send all submissions to:

Clayton_Nelson@brown.edu

I want to see creativity oozing out of your e-mails!  Lets get it on guys (and girls)!
