					Dark Paladin's Yu-Gi-Oh! DimensionPharonic Guardian...IT'S BACK
 2.24.06

Hello again to Pojo and Yugioh fans one and all! I've been
being asked "What happened to the set reviews, are they
coming back, etc..." So, here they are. We come back with a
					vengeance to review Pharonic Guardian.
As always, we start with the Secret Rares

 Ring of Destruction

What do you want me to say about this nasty game finishing
trap that burns us all inside? Ridiculously hyped then, and
so good its banned now in the Advanced format.

 Rating: 5/5 Then and Now

 Lava Golem

Lava Golem is a very very unique burn monster that really
only fits into his own deck type. He's not really that good,
but he isn't that BAD either.

 Rating: 3/5 then and now

Secret Rare Then Rating Average: 4/5
Secret Rare Now Rating Average: 4/5
 Secret Rare Average: 4/5

 Ultra Rares:

 Great Dezard
 Guardian Sphinx
 Don Zaloog
 Fushioh Richie
 Helpoemer
 Mystical Knight of Jackal
 Byser Shock
 Question
 Rope of Life
 Nightmare Wheel

Ok, first, we'll ignore the Ultra Rares that get instant 1/5
with good reason (Great Dezard, Guardian Sphinx, Fushioh
Richie, Helpoemer, Byser Shock, Question, Rope of Life,
Mystical Knight of Jackal) Bad, yes I know, but the vast
majority of those do deserve it. The rest are the only ones
you're likely to see in a competitve deck.

 Don Zaloog

Again, what do you want me to say.

 Rating Then: 5/5
 Rating Now: 5/5 Still a kick-ass card

 Nightmare Wheel

A real nice burn card, or Mask of the Acursed in trap form.
Played for a bit upon release, but as time went by, so did
					people knowing about this card.

 Rating Then: 4/5
 Rating Now: 2.5/5

 Ultra Rare Average Then: 2.65/5
 Ultra Rare Average Now: 2.20/5
 Ultra Rare Average: 2.43/5

 Super Rares

 Sasuke Samaurai
 Book of Life
 Mirage of Nightmare
 Statue of the Wicked
 Gravekeeper's Chief
 Reaper on the Nightmare
 Dark Room of Nightmare
 Necrovalley
 Barrel Behind the Door
 Trap of Board Eraser

Sadly, we must again eliminate the 1/5 This leaves us with
Mirage of Nightmare essentially, which of course gets a 5/5
in both. Necrovalley isn't horrible, but it, along with say,
Book of Life need their own decks to be played successfully.
On their own, the scores stand low.

 Super Rare Average: 2/5

 Notable Rares:

 King Tiger Wanghu 3/5
 Pyramid Turtle 4.5/5 (zombie)
 Book of Moon 5/5 (restricted)
 Newdoria 3/5
 Spirit Reaper 4.5/5

 Rare Average: 4/5

 As a reference... :)

 4.6-5.0 = A

 4.1-4.5 = A-

 3.6-4.0 = B+

 3.1-3.5 = B-

 2.6-3.0 = C+

 2.1-2.5 = C-

 1.6-2.0 = D+

 1.1-1.5 = D-

 1.0 or lower = uh-oh

 On a quick Recap:

 Legend of BEWD set: 2.10/5 = C-
 Metal Raiders set: 2.60/5 = C+
 Magic Rulers set: 2.70/5 = C+
 Pharoh's Servant set: 3.60/5 = B+
 Labyrinth of Nighmare set: 3.60/5 = B+
 Legacy of Darkness set: 3.77/5 = B+
 Pharonic Guardian set: 3.5/5 = B-

Next, is Magician's Force, will any set get an A?

Please feel free to conatct me with anything @ tsearcy@lssu.edu

You stay classy, Planet Earth :)
