My Thoughts on the Next Banned List II and what it means for the game of Yugioh

7.13.05

Hello again to Pojo and Yugioh fans one and all!

Sorry to not have checked in recently, I've been extremely busy with work, some personal problems and the like but I'm back. Today, I'm going to talk about what I believe should happen on the upcoming Ban List which isn't until October. I'd like to thank Deathjester for being bold enough to do this first, on accounts of I've wanted to do this for about a month, but thought it was too early.

Let's start with cards that should be taken OFF the Ban List.

I really don't have any problems with this at all. The only card that I wouldn't mind seeing come back is Makyura the Destructor. It was banned just after its release and no one really got to use it. Other than that, it should just stay exactly the way it is.

Secondly, let's look at new cards that should be Banned.

*Black Luster Soldier--Envoy of the Beginning

Okay, everyone of course knows that Chaos Emperor Dragon--Envoy of the End will be starting its third trip on the Banned List, so it's time for BLS to take a trip on the Ban cycle.

Thirdly, let's look at cards that should be Restricted

*Scapegoat

Deathjester was right on this one. Granted Trample decks have a field day with Scapegoat, but being able to stall from anywhere to 2-4 turns up to three times in a duel is just plain sick.

*Pyramid Turtle

Zombie decks, along with ALL other decks can use three of these and it's just wrong. With the Semi-Restriction of Vampire Lord, being able to use three Turtles is just wrong. Not to mention all the OTHER Zombies this dude can fetch.

*Brain Control

This card isn't all Godly or anything, but it's just the new costed Change of Heart as Lightning Vortex was the new costed Raigeki which I believe got Restricted. Wait...it did.

*DD Survivor

This card being a Rare and strong enough to take out DD Warrior Lady and DD Assailant makes our Survivior friend a worth candidate of a Restriction. He's also Chaos friendly and one of him is plenty in a deck.

*Magician of Faith

Also in need of a Restriction I whole-heartedly agree with Deathejester. This thing is also searchable via Apprentice Magician who also has far too much power currently.

*Apprentic Magician

Granted, most of you only use this card in a hope to give Breaker the Magical Warrior another attack boost, but this card can do so so much including search itslef AND Magician of Faith.

*Royal Decree

Now, some of you are probably thinking this is a ridiculous joke, but no, I am dead serious. We are getting a common, a COMMON one of this card in the new Warrior Structure deck which release is pending.

*Vampire Lord

Vampire Lord deserves to have his Restriction reinstated. Three Pyramid Turtle and two Vampire Lord is just chaos, it boggels the mind. Just because Sacred Phoenix is a better card doesn't mean Vampire Lord needs to be run in multiple copies.

Lastly, let's go over new Semi-Restrictions

*Spirit Reaper

This card has far too much power, and two is more than enough in any deck, even to be abused in your hardcore Zombie deck. He can be incredibly annoying and a pain in the rear.

*Mystical Space Typhoon

With all the threats of Spell and Trap cards we have, essentially all we have for destruction that's commonly used is Heavy Storm, Breaker, and ONE Mystical Space Typhoon. Two would be a nice and welcome addition to or underfunded spell/trap destruction arsenal.

Now, as for my thoughts on the thoughts of the game. Doing things to the ban list that will make the majority happy keeps and renews interest in the game.
Happy people buy cards, go to tournaments, etc. Doing stupid radical changes that no one needs or expects upsets the majority causing them to compaign, riot, or even quit. Sort of like the Ban List last time. Konami should really take a survey and get some people's thoughts on what they feel of the current stae of the game. Konami is certainly going to lose lots of customers who are already hanging on a thread if they aren't careful.

Keep in mind these are just MY thoughts, and constructive criticism is welcome, hatemail isn't.

That does it for today, feel free to conatct me about anything at tsearcy@lssu.edu

*I'd also like to apologize for my lack or lengthy time it takes me to reply to e-mail. I've been extremly busy, but should have more time shortly.*

You stay classy, Planet Earth :)

~Dark Paladin~
