Daily Since 2002!

Souleating Oviraptor
- #SR04-EN002

If this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can take 1 Dinosaur-Type monster from your Deck, and either add it to your hand or send it to the Graveyard. You can target 1 other Level 4 or lower Dinosaur-Type monster on the field; destroy it, then Special Summon 1 Dinosaur-Type monster from your Graveyard in Defense Position. You can only use each effect of "Souleating Oviraptor" once per turn.

Good LV4 stats.  First effect works on both Normal and Special Summon.  Is a ROTA or Foolish Burial.  Destroying one of your own monsters can trigger a combo, but it is fair in that it could revive powerful monsters.  A staple for Dinosaur decks (run 3).

Souleating Oviraptor

I won’t go too deep into a monster that needs no elaborate review. Souleating Oviraptor is absurdly overpowered and a staple 3-of in any dinosaur deck. It’s one of those few monsters that you just know was made to launch a deck straight to tier 1. That’s exactly what this is. It possesses multiple effects that are a dream, and every duel consists of either rejoicing when you have it or lamenting that you don’t have one yet, even though it’s so easy to draw out.

Cards like Oviraptor normally make me angry. It’s so mindless that anyone can drop it and go into huge plays, even if you were to only search for the big guys, which dinosaurs have a lot of. But his search casts such a wide net, and since Fossil Dig can get him from the deck, his presence is utterly outrageous. And I like that for dinosaurs, even though they were launched into the stratosphere in an instant. And let’s not forget he can also search for a Kaiju as an emergency button.

Busted card is busted. Not much else to say. I expect it to be banned by the end of 2017 or early 2018, giving it the same life as the most busted Monarch cards that preceded the dino structure deck.
