Supreme King Gate Infinity - #MACR-EN018

Pendulum EffectIf you control a monster, you cannot Pendulum Summon. This effect cannot be negated. Once per turn, if you control "Supreme King Z-ARC": You can target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; gain LP equal to its ATK. Monster EffectOnce per turn: You can target 1 other face-up card you control; destroy both it and this card, and if you do, Special Summon 1 Dragon-Type Xyz or Pendulum Monster from your Extra Deck, but its ATK and DEF become 0, it has its effects negated, also it cannot be used as a Material for a Synchro or Xyz Summon. If this card in the Monster Zone is destroyed by battle or card effect: You can place this card in your Pendulum Zone.

Hello Pojo Fans,

Supreme King Gate Infinity joins Gate Zero on the same day to complete a Pendulum Scale for Pojo's CoTD.

13 scale means any monster is up for grabs for Pendulum Summoning. Same Type and Attribute as Gate Zero, gaining its support, as well as 0ATK/0DEF, no luck for attacking with it. As a pendulum, it prevents you from Pendulum Summoning if you already have a monster, a neat restriction that prevents a player from going crazy by using a Normal or Special Summon to launch into a long turn and then Pendulum Summon, but not good for the player who plays Gate Infinity. If you have yourself Supreme King Z-ARC you can target an opponents monster and gain LP equal to its attack. If you can get King Z-ARC out, you'll be able to gain some LP, and, depending on the monster your opponent has, that could be a lot.

Same style of monster effect as Gate Zero, pop Gate Infinity and another face-up card you have, get a Dragon from the Extra Deck, but this time it's an Xyz or Pendulum. Same drawbacks, and same effect if destroyed as a monster.

With the same stats and a high scale of 13, Supreme King Gate Infinity could have been a clone, but it isn't. This Pendulum Effect says no Pendulum Summoning while you control a monster. You can also target an opponent's monster to gain LP if you control Z-Arc. Not ideal. The monster effects are the same except the dragons you summon are XYZ or Pendulum. Yeah, if the name didn't matter to Zero, I would say use a different high scale. Oh well. This must be the exit gate of a great dragon amusement park.

Score: 3.5/5 Restrictions hurt.

The second card for twofer Tuesday is the scale that goes with Supreme King Gate Zero, and that is Supreme King Gate Infinity.

Gate Infinity has the highest scale to date with 13, followed by Performapal Five-Arc Magician (likely in Battles of Legend later this year) who has an effect that isn't too promising with Pendulums post Link Format. For the Pendulum Effect, as long as Gate Infinity is a scale, you cannot Pendulum Summon if you control a monster and that cannot be negated. I hope you have this with Gate Zero so that can pop this to search a Fusion, otherwise Pendulum Summoning later on might be hard. The second effect of Gate Infinity lets you gain LP equal to the ATK of one monster your opponent controls as long as you control Supreme King Z-ARC. More LP is always good, but if you have Z-ARC on the field, you are likely winning anyways.

Gate Infinity's first effect covers the ground that Gate Zero doesn't, and that is summoning Pendulum or XYZ monsters from the Extra Deck with the same downsides that Gate Zero gave the Fusion or Synchro monster it summons. You might summon an Xyz Dragon or Pendulum Dragon monster for the Sorcerers I mentioned in the Gate Zero review. It's second effect puts himself back in the Pendulum Zone when destroyed, just like Gate Zero; however, I don't know how much you'll actually want this.

If you play Gate Zero, then Gate Infinity is a good call as well. It only sucks that he limits Pendulum Summoning, though there aren't many level 10-12 monsters that will break this card.

The second of todays cards is Supreme King Gate Infinity, sharing the exact same stats as Gate Zero, Gate Infinity is a level 7 dark, fiend with 0 attack and defence. However, it boasts being the ONLY monster in the game with scale 13. However it has one major drawback. If you have a monster on the field, you can't pendulum summon.

Gate Infinity comes with just a single pendulum effect and it's a doozy. If you control Supreme King Dragon Z-ARC, you can target one face-up monster the opponent controls, and gain life equal to its attack. But again, this means 1, actually summoning Z-ARC to begin with, and 2, hoping the opponent has a monster after Z-ARC has destroyed everything they have.

Next are Gate Infinity's monster effects, and like Gate Zero, it can destroy itself and one other face-up card you control to special summon any Xyz or pendulum dragon from your extra deck, and like Zero, it negates that monster's effects, puts the attack and defence at 0 and also prevents that monster from being used for an Xyz or Synchro summon. Balanced, and fair and it allows for setting up Z-ARC or other plays. Lastly if Gate Infinity is destroyed by battle or effect, you can place it in a pendulum zone.

Advanced 4/5 scale 0/13 have been a long time coming, but is it too little too late? Gate Zero and Infinity are really good support for the Supreme King archetype and actually make it viable. Potentially splashing out into other decks that need a wider range of scales.
