Sea Monster of Theseus

I really don’t like this monster and it’s something I’m glad to say soon won’t be nearly as powerful as it is now. Sea Monster of Theseus is a monster that was specifically marketed by Konami as a target to abuse through Instant Fusion. By itself, the monster is garbage, but with Instant Fusion, all kinds of combos can be had, most notably an easy path to Ultimaya Tzolkin.

Don’t get me wrong. In the past, I touted Instant Fusion as a great card, and I used it extensively in the days of froggy monarch and plant-synchro, but with the release of Norden and Theseus, Instant Fusion has gone from a tech play for a free summon of a crappy monster to a sometimes godly spell card that can turn whole tides of the duel. And Konami markets it that way! Not a fan, and I’ve been one of the loudest voices lately to say it has to be banned.

As for Theseus in a bubble, it’s a terrible card. There’s no reason to waste precious extra deck space for this card, and this goes double for after the Link Monster era begins, which will demand even more precious spots. If you’re not running Instant Fusion, there is no deck that would need this. And once Instant Fusion is finally banned (as it should be), this will never see play again.

Hello Pojo Fans,

Sea Monster of Theseus wraps up this week.

Tuner Zombie with the ability to be brought out with Instant Fusion? That is something we don't get to see. Level 5 Tuner could be hand in making bigger Synchro monsters, not to mention being compatable with Rank 5 monsters. No Special Summoning restrictions lets you revive this monster later on for more Rank or Synchro plays. As a Zombie, Sea Monster of Theseus gains the Zombie-Type support like Book of Life and Mezuki for more Special Summoning. Needing only 2 Tuner monsters makes this monster very easy to Fusion Summon as well.

Any deck that runs an Instant Fusion or two could run this in the Extra Deck. If you have a space and this could help make it easier to Synchro Summon, give it a try.

Sea Monster of Theseus

This is such a weird card since to me, this card looks as though it has been designed specifically for use with Instant Fusion!
Especially since the Summoning requirement of 2x Tuners and Polymerization (or proxy) for a 2200 ATK monster is simply not worth the investment.

Sea Monster of Theseus really is about how you use it and what it's Summon is going to advance you to.
The first thing to note is that this is a Level 5 Tuner, that means that it is that much easier to Summon Ultimaya Tzolkin and means that you can Summon it without requiring Gofu as the Tuner.
This will also come in very useful since it will help to open up more available options when it comes to Synchro'ing, and may in some instances make Synchro'ing into Level 8's a little easier... Especially when you consider the use of cards like Speedroid Terrortop and co.

Rating: 4.  What makes this card good is that it is easily Summoned via Instant Fusion, the fact that it is a Level 5 makes what you can Summon from it very varied, and in some cases easier... And to note, this card can be Summoned by yesterday's card... Mezuki! Which really is just the cream on the top of this cards cake tbh.
