Silent Sword Slash
- #DPRP-EN004

Target 1 "Silent Swordsman" monster you control; that monster you control gains 1500 ATK and DEF, and if it does, until the end of this turn, it is unaffected by your opponent's card effects. This card's activation and effect cannot be negated. You can banish this card from your Graveyard; add 1 "Silent Swordsman" monster from your Deck to your hand.

Silent Sword Slash

Silent Sword Slash is a card waiting for more support. So, I like this card, but it’s not playable now. I think everyone is hoping that the Silent Swordsman archetype gets even more support, and the same for Silent Magician, because they’re so good. For a while I’ve salivated at the thought of Silent Magician in Shaddoll decks if Construct was taken off the banned list.

The spell has a lot going for it. The attack boost and secondary effect is legit, it’s a quick play, and it has a graveyard effect that lets you recoup the card loss. Most themes that get something like this run it in triplicate, but the fact of the matter is that Silent Swordsman as a theme is terribly slow, and unlike Silent Magician, which usually has high attack when summoned, Silent Swordsman is hard to tech on his own simply because he doesn’t get to gain attack. But even if you did tech Swordsman in a warrior deck, that wouldn’t justify running this spell. It requires its own deck.

So I think a lot of people would echo my following statement: “Konami, please give us Silent Swordsman LV 4, 6 and 8. And throw in new Silent Magician LV monsters too!” Not much else to say about this card. Right now, it’s not useable in a competitive way… but it could be.

Okay, this card is good support for Silent Swordsman, but there's still not enough support to make it a full on deck.  A 1500 AtK boost is good, invulnerability to effects is good and a searching ability to make this card be sort of +1 is good.  But leveling up LV monsters is still very slow and this card is way too specific and situational to find use outside of a very small niche.  It's a step in the right direction, but not enough.

More support for old cards. I approve. Silent Sword Slash is a QuickPlay Spell that has two great effects. The first is the costless 1500 Atk and Def boost, so it can be activated during the Damage Step. It also grants one turn opponent effect immunity. Silent Sword Slash can only target Silent Swordsman monsters, even Lv 7 because it's activation and effect can't be negated. The second effect can be activated as soon as it hits the grave. You banish it and search any Silent Swordsman monster from the deck to the hand. So running multiples is rewarded. In general the new Silent Swordsman stuff can be run in other decks that run Warriors. So, this scores higher because of that versatility.

Score: 4/5 Splash these guys in heroes or PK Fire, see if it helps.
Art: 5/5 I've always loved this type of artwork.
