Harpie Lady Phoenix Formation
- #LC04-EN002

If you control 3 or more "Harpie Lady" and/or "Harpie Lady Sisters": Target as many monsters your opponent controls as possible, but not more than the total number of "Harpie Lady" and "Harpie Lady Sisters" you control; destroy those targets, and if you do, inflict damage to your opponent equal to the highest original ATK among those destroyed monsters (your choice, if tied). You cannot Special Summon monsters from the Main Deck or Extra Deck, nor conduct your Battle Phase, the turn you activate this card.

Continuing to look at cards from Joey's World, we come to a Mai Valentine character card, in Harpie Lady Phoenix Formation. This is ridiculous support for a theme, Ridiculously good support, that is. If you control three or more Harpie Ladies and/or Harpie Lady Sisters, you can activate this card. Target as many Monsters as your opponent controls as possible, so long as said number isn't more than the number of Harpies you control. If successful, you inflict Damage to your opponent equal to the highest attack of the Monster destroyed. If more than one Monster has the highest attack, you choose which one. You cannot Special Summon from your Main or Extra Deck the turn you use this card, but you still can from the Graveyard. You can't conduct your Battle Phase, which keeps this from being totally broken, but it's still a great card for Harpie players.

Ah Harpie Lady Phoenix Formation a staple of Mai in the Waking the Dragons saga and a card fans have wanted ever since it was first revealed in the anime. With Legendary Collection 4: Joey’s World the fans dream has become a reality or is it a nightmare?

Not surprisingly this card has been nerfed, the anime version only required at least 1 Harpie Lady and the opponent lost life points equal to the combined ATK of all monsters that were destroyed., however Harpie Lady couldn’t attack. This card has more conditions and a slightly weaker effect.
First off those Conditions, you need 3+ Harpie Lady and/or Harpie Lady Sisters to activate his card. Also you cannot conduct your Battle Phase and you cannot special summon from your Main or Extra Decks. These conditions really hurt this card, while getting 3+ harpies isn’t really a problem for Harpie decks, they mostly use cards like Elegant Egotist and Harpie Channeller which special summon cards from the Main Deck. These means that chances are you will have to get the requirements for this card on 1 turn and then you would have to wait until the next turn to use this card, hoping that your opponent doesn’t remove your monsters in the meantime.

Of course, with so many conditions the effect has to be good and overall it is, you can destroy cards up to the number of Harpies you control; some that would be at least 3 and then you inflict damage equal to the highest original ATK of those destroyed monsters, so monster destruction and life point damage all in one, that is quite good. But of course you can’t have a battle phase so you can’t really capitalise on it.

Overall, this should have been Harpie decks killer card, the card that should have made this deck really good, but ii has too many conditions which might actually slow down the deck rather than improve it.
