Evolsaur Pelta is another piece to the Evol puzzle that you will want to run two or three of. It is good in that it can stall your opponent until your turn so you can summon another monster to Xyz into one of the two cards we are reviewing Thursday and Friday. Even if your opponent can attack over your 2500 defense monster (when special summoned by an Evolite), you still get to replace your monster with another valuable Evolite monster to set up your next play. That is it in a nut shell folks.

Our two week long look at the Evol Archtype and its support continues as we look at Evolsaur Pelta. A Level 4 Fire/Dinosaur type, Pelta has 1100 ATK and 2000 DEF, Pelta's effect is it's special summoned by the effect of a Evoltile monster, it gains 500 DEF, and if its destroyed by battle after being special summoned by the effect of a Evoltile monster, you can add 1 Evoltile monster from your deck to your hand. I like to think this card will mainly be used to be a big dino-wall to fend off your opponent's monsters, until it's used for tributing, Synchro or Xyz summoning. There are other ways to get Evoltile monsters to your hand rather than losing field presence, especially one that has 2000/2500 DEF that you might want to keep on the field.

Tomorrow: The really good stuff.

Angelic Nightmare

When this card is Special Summoned by the effect of an "Evoltile" monster: It gains 500 DEF. If this card was Special Summoned by the effect of an "Evoltile" monster, then is destroyed by battle: You can add 1 "Evoltile" monster from your Deck to your hand.

This card shines as a pretty decent wall when it is special summoned by an Evoltile monster. 2500 defense isn’t something that can be taken so likely. If it is run over while it’s effect is effect nets you a free search.

Because its def is so high, potentially, it will more than likely lead your opponent to destroy it with a card effect or remove it from play instead. For once I think I would have to say that this high of defense may actually be a not so great thing. There really aren’t that many things in a person’s deck or extra that can over run this card aside from Scrap Dragon and Trishula, but they just might destroy/remove it with their effect.

This card isn’t so bad for the archtype, but maybe the defense in a deeper sense is bittersweet.

Pros: Good defense with or without its effect and can possibly get you a search for an Evoltile monster.

Cons: its defense just may be a little too high and may not get it off as often because of it.

This guy pulls double duty, either by serving a search function when attacked and killed, or by netting you a very solid defense. Useful for deck thinning too. This guy should be in any Evo deck made.
