Dark Paladin
Friday

Like Plants, specifically Black Rose Dragon, needed more support.  Blue Rose Dragon, looks wicked awesome.  If this support effect only targeted Black Rose Dragon, he wouldn't be half as good.  We have a Level 4, Dark attributed, Dragon monster, with 1600 attack and 1200 defense.  Not bad for a beginning I believe.

Now, when Blue Rose Dragon is destroyed on the Field, by Magic, Monster, or Trap effect, or even by Battle, (so we're not very specific, which is great in this case) you can Special Summon one Plant-type monster OR Black Rose Dragon from your Graveyard.  In a word, that's sick.  One or the other (leaning toward the Plant-type monster) is good, both is excellent.  Obviously a must for Plants.

Ratings:

5/5 Plants, decent attack, can replace itself, and even potentially give you Black Rose?  I like it.

Friday: Blue Rose Dragon

Rounding out the week here we have Blue Rose Dragon, the newest toy for plant decks. Blue Rose Dragon is a 4-star dark dragon-type monster with 1600 atk and 1200 def. When it is destroyed and sent to the graveyard you can special summon 1 Black Rose Dragon or 1 plant-type monster in your graveyard. That right there is a great effect in my opinion. Imagine ramming Blue Rose into something and summoning back your Black Rose or Tytannial. You could even get a Lonefire then sac it in main phase 2, or get Dandylion to keep a strong defense going against an intimidating field. Dragons and dark monsters both have a ton of support as well. Chaos Plants may look into this deck as something to try out. I definitely like this card though and I hope people start playing it. It just sounds like such a neat effect for plant decks to have in addition to all their other great ones. It could end up being terrible but hey, it's always good to try something during playtesting. You never know what might work for you.

Traditional: 2/5 At least you can summon back that Black Rose after a Chaos Emperor Dragon blows up the field? XD
Advanced: 3/5 Give it a try, plant users and let me know how it works.
Artwork: 4/5 Probably my favorite looking card this week.

Blue Rose Dragon

Alright now for one of my favorite cards in the new set. It looks...strange but I actually really like it. Blue Rose Dragon is a level 4 dark effect monster with 1600 atk/1200 defense. When he is destroyed and sent from field to graveyard you can select and SS a Black Rose Dragon or plant type monster in your graveyard. Now thats pretty dam awesome. Any deck that runs a plant engine could benefit  from grabbing a lonefire back assuming the other engines components are in the deck. Grabbing tuners like glow up and spore, or even dandylion opens up several more combos. Furthermore, if you nuke the field with Blackrose and this guy is on the field well guess what...you get that Blackrose back. Neat! Thats so nice. Alright now lets look real hard at this card. For one...its not going to see much competitve play as the current chaos plant doppel whatever you call them decks are pretty jam packed. Making room for this dude means compromising an explosive deck that works off combos. Blue Rose actually has less synergy as it is a dragon type. However, it is a dark so I feel it could be tech in one of those decks...but I'm not going to do that so I wouldn't blame you if you didn't either. Just because I really like a card doesn't mean I would play it. I want to see blue rose dragon in some decks, plant or otherwise, because its effect is awesome and offers many potential plays. Overall, nice card that may see some play in the future.
