Dark Paladin
Tuesday

Doomkaiser Dragon--Assault Mode continues the week, and while the original is a Level 6 2400 attack monster who can Special Summon one Zombie monster from your opponent's Graveyard, here we have something much better.

The Assault Mode is a Level 9 monster with 2900 attack, a bit low for Level 9, and 2000 defense, which is also pretty low, but this allows you to Special Summon any number of Zombie monsters from either Graveyard, and while their effects are negated, and they are destroyed at the End Phase of the turn, you can ideally knock your opponent out.

Follow this with, or better yet, precede it with a Heavy Storm and just pummel your opponent. I mean, you have 2900 attack here in this
monster itself, However, if you can't accomplish this task, there
really isn't much use in playing this Assault mode, and even the original Synchro didn't see a ton of play.

Ratings:

Traditional: 2.75/5 Could be quick and fun, could backfire.
Advanced: 3.75/5 For reasons listed above.

General Zorpa Doomkaiser Dragon/Assault Mode

This card is the Assault Mode version of Doomkaiser Dragon. He gains 500 ATK and DEF like all other AM monsters, bringing it to 2900 ATK and 2000 DEF. The DARK and Zombie attribute and type are good, but not enough to make me quiver.

The effect is a pumped up version of Doomkaiser the original, allowing you to Special Summon as many ZOmbies as you need rather than just one, and they all die at the end of the turn. As Zombies got killed at the list, this completely limits his playability to a weird ZOmbie/Assault Mode deck.

It could theoretically work, but Zombies do not really need the hassle that this guy brings to the table. They can Special Summon just fine and I do not see this card being anything more than looking creepy in binders unless there is some way to abuse him. With Plaguespreader at 1, I do not think that you would use it to make Doomkasier anyway, so the Assault Mode is almost moot.

Today’s card is Doomkaiser Dragon Assault Mode. I do dislike almost all of the Assault Mode monsters that are out right now, but this guy I see a load of potential in! First thing that comes to mind is what all Zombies can do. The list did hurt some of the weapons in the deck, but I think someone can make a nice build still. Brining out Doomkaiser Dragon isn’t a hard feat if you are using Zombies, so that part is taken care of. If you bring the Assault Mode version out, you should win the game right there! Think of what Zombies do. They load the grave up. You can either bring out Big beaters and win, or bring some monsters and tuners back and get some big Synchros on the board. If you use Zombie World, that makes this card so much better. I cant say for sure what you opponent will have in their grave, but they are bound to have some goodies in there

The next Assault Mode monster this week is Doomkaiser Dragon/Assault Mode. Just like Hyper Psychic Blaster, Doomkaiser Dragon/Assault Mode needs specific cards to summon him. As usual, after all the work put into to summon this card, you can special summon as many Zombies from either player's Graveyard(s) to your side of the field.

With that, they get no effects and are destroyed during the End Phase of that turn. It would be meaningless to do it on your opponent's turn. Once again these types of monsters aren't really playable in any top tournaments. It isn't a great card, but the card looks awesome in Ultimate Rare.

Doomkaiser Dragon/Assault Mode

Like any Assault Mode monster, its pretty hard to summon out. Unlike its Synchro partner, its able to summon as many Zombie-Type monsters from either players graveyard(s), which means its a Monster Reborn for up to 4 monsters. Back when Plaguespreader Zombie was at 3 this effect would be very good seeing as how even with their effects negated, you can still Synchro Summon with tuners.

Not much else to really say about this card, Doomkaiser Dragon is better since the monsters it brings back are not destroyed during the end phase like his Assault Mode does, on top of that its easier to summon, even with Plaguespreader Zombie at 1 on the ban list.

Doomkaiser Dragon - Assault Mode ...

Hmmm ... (scratching my chin) ... I have to be honest in that I never much cared for the original Doomkaiser Dragon ... Synchros with such specific summoning conditions are trouble from the start, and their Assault Modes are even trickier to get out ... that being said - assuming u are playing a Zombie Deck, or if (for whatever reason) u are using Zombie World, u should hopefully have enough Zombies in the graveyards to choose from (after summoning this guy) to win the game. 2900 ATK is nothing to sneeze at, but his effect to swarm the field in a big way and finish the game quick is why u would play him...

Nevertheless ... it's not worth it. Like I said - he's not very easy to get out, and he's too reliant on other things going on (the amount of available zombies, and hopefully your opponent having a clear field) to be useful. And u only get 1 crack at it since his effect only happens when he's special summoned.

Pass.
