General Zorpa Rose, Warrior of Revenge

Well, welcome to Rose Week! Here we are starting on cards from the upcoming Crossroads of Chaos booster set. And first off we have the Sneak Peak promo, Rose. Rose is a 1600 ATK 4 star FIRE Warrior that also happens to inflict 300 damage to your opponent when she inflicts damage. This is a rather nifty ability, as often games are decided by 300 or less lifepoints, so Rose can force more damage in.

But unlike most good cards, Rose is not good because of her effect. She is good simply because she is a level 4 Tuner monster. For those of you who are a little out of it, most monsters played are level 4, meaning that combined with rose, they make a level 8 Synchro, which is great, especially since Rose can be searched out by Reinforcements of the Army and she gives great Synchro ability to both Gladiators and Lightsworn, in which it is rather awkward to use the other staple Tuner of Krebons.

However, I feel that this card shines best in that she is part of a 2 card combo that nukes the entire field. When was the last time something like that happened, a complete field clearing for a Normal Summon? Yeah, never. The combo is just Marauding Captain and Rose, and then Synchroing for Black Rose Dragon (which is why I think her name is Rose) and then either blasting for damage or nuking the whole field.

A level 4 Tuner, especially a Warrior, is a great addition to the game, and if you didn't go to the Sneak Peak, then you are likely to get one, as she is an Ultra and Ultimate Rare in the set.

Rose, Warrior of Revenge is our first hour star tuner monster. This card makes some Synchro summons easy, but others it'll take more to get into. This with a Treeborn Frog is an automatic Magical Android. If anyone uses Nimble Momonga or Giant Germ, they can synchro with this for a Goyo Guardian or possibly Stardust Dragon. I believe Rose would work best with The Immortal Bushi for being a 3 Star monster, a quick way to summon Black Rose Dragon.

It's 1600 ATK is good, but is only able to be searched out by Reinforcemnt of the Army. It would have been nice if instead of doing 300 damage extra, it would just be 300 ATK stronger. I don't think Rose will make a huge splash because of quicker Synchro summons with the typical Dark Armed Dragon Teleport Decks.

Dark Paladin

Monday

We open the week with the Preview card from the new set, Crossroads of Chaos, that card being Rose, Warrior of Revenge. Rose is a Level 4 Fire attribute monster who is also a Tuner, and appropriately a Warrior type with 1600 attack and 600 defense.

1600 attack isn't bad for a Level 4...it's not the best, but it could be a lot worse. Warrior is of course a very well supported Monster type, and Fire is a very interesting attribute. When Rose inflicts Battle Damage to your opponent, she deals an additional 300 Damage.

Honestly, I think this card has more value as a Level 4 Tuner monster than actually for her effect, type, or attack. She may make a splash for a while, and she may help certain Tuner/Synchro players, but be useless to others.
