Dark Paladin

Friday

Ice Master closes our week, an interesting Spellcaster, who sadly, I don't think will see much play, even in Water Decks, and I'm sad to say, this is a Secret Rare.  Our Magician friend is Level 8, and appropriately Water with 2500 attack and 2000 defense, which is low, for a Level 8 monster.

I feel it fair to point out, that is not be being hypocritical of Dark Magician, that I am simply stating a fact.  Anyway, you can Special Summon the Ice Master from your Hand by tributing 2 Water monsters...some Special Summon.

Once per turn, you can place one Ice Counter on 1 face-up monster.

Then, tribute Ice Master to destroy all mosnters on the Field with an Ice Counter(s).  The problem being, how long will he stay on the Field?

Not a very long time, I'd bet.

This is the first of the TDGS cards that we are reviewing and it is a rather cool one to boot. Oh yay! GZ made a funny! Anyway, 2500 on a level 8 monster is horrible, just downright horrible. The defense is meh, but as Prime Material Dragon has shown, it is high enough to stop Book of Moon and enemy Controller. It can be Special Summoned by tributing WATER monsters, which is nice, and certainly helps it's playability. If there were a reliable way to make WATER tokens, then this would be easy to bring out and almost worth playing. This card does put a counter on a face up monster. Uh-oh, counter effects are usually bad. Cloudians, Aliens, Spellcasters and Venom monsters were constantly hampered by the fact that monsters are short lived in this game.

The second effect is golden. You tribute it to destroy all monsters with Ice counters. As there are other cards to put Ice counters on cards, this could get interesting. However, you would have to kill 3 monsters to justify it's use. Dark Armed Dragon does this for more ATK and less set up. The main problem is that WATER monsters have so little support from the newer sets that it is really hard to make one playable. However, with all of the support that we do get in TDGS, I think that we can make something of this card.

I happen to be in a perpetual love affair with WATER monsters, so I am going to say that this belongs in a deck that can use it and abuse it. You should use Alexis' other Ice monsters in order to get the most out of it, but if you just want to play a fun WATER deck, this guy can make some waves.

Secret Rare

Todayʼs card up for review today is Ice Master. Iʼm not really in favor of this card whatsoever. I personally think itʼs a horrible choice for a secret rare slot. The effect is pretty janky too in my opinion. The special summon part is pretty cool, if you can get the resources on the field. This card could become a little better if more Ice counter like cards get released, you never know, its Yu-Gi-Oh haha. Until more support gets released though, stay away from the card

Apparently, this says all the GX manga cards are getting turned real! YAY!

With this and cyber shark, alo, and gigagago, I think a competitive water deck could be built. All that's missing is a water d-draw, then with warrior of atlantis, a few dark bribes, terroforming, terrorking salmon, it's almost perfect!

But this card is NOT good in an ice deck, why get out this whopper only to sac it to blast your opponents monsters? That dont make no sense!

2/5 trad. Chaos dominates, and this deck is still a little tender.

3.75/5 adv. for now...
