SomeGuy Thursday (April Fool's Day) - A Man with Wdjat

I guess you can consider today's CotD an "April Fool's Joke". Because that's exactly what this card is, a joke.

There are definitely some advantages that can you can establish from having the ability to peek at your opponent's set cards, but a mere 1600 ATK is not the way to go about with it. And since the effect doesn't apply until your following StandyBy Phase, it will most likely be destroyed on your opponent's next turn. Sad indeed.

In Limited 1600 ATK isn't bad at all, and will definitely force your opponent to deal with it. Since the cards are so much more random in this format, being able to check out what your opponent has set, has a much larger advantage.

ExMinion OfDarkness Thursday:
A Man with Wdjat

This card is best described in one word: filler. All the cards in a set can't be non-effect monsters, and every effect monster can't be great. Thus, we pull these.

This card reminds me of Patrol Robo (a TP3 Rare, if I'm not mistaken...). This card has better stats, but not worth enough to play. In a tournament-level Deck, you're usually destroying the card you're worried about instead of just looking at it (the 6 M/T killers, the field-clear magics (Raigeki + Dark Hole), Noblemans...)

Even if this card WAS something you'd want to search for, you can't -- 1600/1600 blocks pretty much any search attempt on this card.

Keep this in the binder, kids -- or throw it out your car window. Maybe some homeless guy will use it to keep a fire burning for 3 seconds longer -- and that 3 seconds is more use than you'll get out of the card.

1/5
Otaku

Stats: Being a Dark Spellcaster means there is solid support for this card.  It is a Level 4 monster, with an ATK and DEF of 1600.  Not high enough to do him much good, and not low enough for it to be searchable.  -_-

Card Text (Effects): So, this guy would only be played for his effect.  Well, that ain’t so hot either.  If you normal summoned him to the field, then during each of the following stand-bye phases you get to peek at Set card on your opponent’s side of the field.  Seems like to much work to me for not enough benefit: unless your opponent is opting to stall and your have no removal available, then it would just be easier to try and nuke the little buggers.

Uses/Combinations: I guess if you need filler for a Dark and/or Spellcastor deck.

Ratings

Casual: 2/5- Maybe there is some obscure deck that uses him, but like I said, it’s obscure.

Constructed: 1.75/5-And I bet that mystery deck is even weaker here.

Limited: 3.5/5-Here he’s not too bad-strong enough to fight or defend, and able to ruin an opponent’s surprise.

Summary

Not too bad of an effect, but it’s the kind of thing you tack on something solid to make it good, not that you tack on something sub-par to make it acceptible.
