Shaddolls Summer 2014 – Deck List - by Baneful
August 27, 2014

Contact: banefulscolumn@gmail.com

Hello, all.  In accordance to Shaddoll Week for COTD, I may as well post a few tips about the deck.  This is the Shaddoll deck list I constructed based on my playtesting.  There's many different ways to run Shaddolls since they use a pretty lean 20 card core-engine.  I'm sure once we see Regionals, and higher play, there will be a definitive Shaddoll Deck.

Monsters 21

1 Black Luster Soldier – Envoy of the Beginning

2 Shaddoll Beast

3 Shaddoll Squamata

3 Shaddoll Dragon

3 Shaddoll Hedgehog

3 Shaddoll Falco

3 Mathematician

2 Sephylon, the Ultimate Time Lord

1 Felis, Lightsworn Archer

Notes: Summoning Mathematician or setting Hedgehog if you don't have Shaddoll Fusion in hand is a solid standard opening.  I like to send Beast to the graveyard early to combo with Falco.  The LIGHT mosnters I keep to summon El Shaddoll Construct, though BLS and Sephylon can do some serious damage on their own.  Dumping Dragon gets high priority when the opponent has a heavy backrow, of course.  And Squamata is generally used from the hand, via Beast discard and Shaddoll Fusion.

Spells 8

3 Shaddoll Fusion

1 Foolish Burial

1 Allure of Darkness

1 Super Polymerization

1 Book of Moon

1 Soul Charge

Notes: Shaddoll Fusion is the essence of the deck.  Super Polymerization is a good chainable card against mirror matches and other decks which use LIGHT's and DARK's.  Allure's benefits greatly outweigh the downsides.  Soul Charge is just an easy plus that can get you Arcanite Magician among other Extra Deck monsters.  Book of Moon reuses flip effects, but can also break the opponent's combos in certain matchups.  And Foolish Burial, you typically activate immediately on the card you need to dump the most.

Traps 11

3 Sinister Shadow Games

3 Breakthrough Skill

2 Vanity's Emptiness

1 Solemn Warning

1 Shaddoll Core

1 Torrential Tribute

Notes: Sinister Shadow Games is a versatile complex card that deserves a discussion in its own right, but its essential.  Breakthrough Skill is necessary in a meta dominated by monster effects.  Vanity's Emptiness works great for after you set up your own combos and summon Construct/Winda, but can also be triggered against non-inherent summoning cards like Soul Charge.  And Solemn Warning beats out Bottomless and Compulsory because it precludes effects.  Torrential isn't great against a mirror match, but it does trigger your own effects.

Extra Deck (15): 3 El Shaddoll Winda, 3 El Shaddoll Construct, Black Rose Dragon, Arcanite Magician, Goyo Guardian, Armades Keeper of Boundaries, Leo the Keeper of the Sacred Tree, Castel the Skyblaster Musketeer, Evilswarm Exciton Knight, 2 Number 101: Silent Honor ARK

Side Deck (15): 3 Light-Imprisoning Mirror, 3 Mystical Space Typhoon, 3 Maxx "C", 2 Malevolent Catastrophe, 2 Rivalry of Warlords, Twister, Dark Hole
