Generic Rank-4 XYZ's On A Budget - by Baneful
August 19, 2014

Rank-4 XYZ's can be expensive.  Abyss Dweller is $15-20.  Lvalval Chain is like $50.  Castel is probably going to be upwards of $20.  Silent Honor Ark is at least $40.  And Evilswarm Exciton Knight often costs $80.  Wow.

In a year from now, Evilswarm Exciton Knight might be a $2 common, but until then...

These Rank-4 XYZ's aren't excellent, but they are mostly very good.  And it's better to have affordable XYZ options than none, because often in a situation, you will have access to LV4 monsters but will be in a specific situation that needs a specific effect.

Price range: Under $5 per card.

So, here is a quick list.

Cairngorgon the Antiluminescent Light

Very strong beater at 2450.  Against some matchups, it will make your opponent think twice before using removal that targets.

Gagaga Cowboy

Very versatile.  Can take out monsters in battle with up to 3000 ATK.  Is also a strong defender with game-ending burn damage.

Maestroke the Symphony Djinn

Is a defense wall with the ability to protect itself and a relatively high defense.  Also flips monsters face down to help destroy them in battle or negate their continuous effects.

Number 103: Ragnazero

Is best for specific matchups rather than overall.  Numerous decks will have face-up spells or effects that boost the strength of their monsters.  This card is great removal and draw power atop of being a strong beater.

Number 39: Utopia

The strongest XYZ monster with a good effect.  Good in a tough situation when the opponent is swarming you with powerful monsters.

Number 80: Rhapsody in Berserk

This card can do a lot of harm to the opponent.  You basically can hurt the opponent's graveyard power, prevent them from plussing and then use it as an equip card for your other XYZ's.

Number 50: Blackship of Corn

Great against defense walls like Hands that trigger effects when destroyed.  Blackship "sends to the graveyard" bypassing many effects.  Is overall solid removal and 1000 damage can be a game-winner late-game.

Diamond Dire Wolf

This is probably the most expensive of the bunch but you can get it for $5.  It's a really desperate kind of removal, but it gets rid of any obstacle in your way.  Great for a tight spot.
