25 Great Side Deck Cards - Baneful

1. This list is largely for new and returning players.

2. The meta does fluctauate and therefore your mileage will vary, but most of these are timeless.

3. This list mostly includes cards that any deck can splash into their side deck.

4. The cards on this list are meant to hurt your opponent rather than directly help you.

5. This list is in no particular order and is not exhaustive,

6. These cards will vary in price.  You can skip the pricy ones and go for the cheap ones if you want.

What is a side deck?

For those who don't know, it's a separate deck of 15 cards.  In a match (best 2 out of the 3 games), in between rounds, you can exchange cards from your main deck to your side deck.  This helps tailor your deck specifically to your competition.

25 Great Side Deck Cards

Mystical Space Typhoon – Between your deck and your side deck combined, you should have 3.

Twister – If 3 MST isn't enough (it often isn't against some decks), use this.

Dust Tornado – Is slower than Twister, but also destroys Set cards.

Royal Decree – You can side out some trap cards for a set of Decrees against trap-heavy decks.

Prohibition – Will work well against decks that particularly depend on one card

---

Cloak and Dagger – Prohibition for monsters only but it's more flexible and surprising than Prohibition.

Mind Crush – This works to discard cards your opponent recently searched from their deck.

Zombie World – Works against decks that depend on their monsters being a certain type.

Full House – Some theme decks require an entire setup of spells/traps ; this card will turn the tide.

Wiretap – Negates trap cards.  The kind of cards your opponent will side against you.

---

Dimensional Fissure – If you don't depend on your graveyard much, this can screw over lots of decks.

Skill Drain – Negates monster effects on the field (but you can still use your graveyard effects)

Soul Drain – Shuts down decks that rely on their graveyard effects like Mermails

Royal Prison – Similar to Soul Drain, but it prohibits the revival of monsters.

Kaiser Colosseum – Makes it difficult for the opponent to swarm or XYZ summon

---

Vanity's Emptiness – Stops Special Summoning, though temporarily.  Can help lock down opponent.

Overworked – Quick chainable removal against theme decks with spells/traps that boost stats

Wiretap – Most cards people will side against you will be traps.  Why not be ahead of the curve?

D.D. Crow – A "handtrap" that stops decks from reviving monsters via effects

Effect Veiler – A "handtrap" tuner that negates the most devastating monster effects

---

Maxx "C" – A "handtrap" that gives drawpower and dissuades opponent from Special Summoning.

Mistake – Stops your opponent from searching cards from deck to hand.  Slows them down.

Debunk – Stops a graveyard effect and banishes the monster.  Useful in some situation.

Light-Imprisoning Mirror – Great against decks like Lightsworns and Bujins

Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror – When DARK decks make a comeback, this card will help you.
