New Potential for Rescue Cat - Master of Shadows

Hello, Pojoers. It's me, Master of Shadows once again. Now I'm here with a tip involving Rescue Cat. Those that roam the forums may have already seen this. Now that I think about it, my little idea involving Rescue Cat would make a nice article, so here it is.

First, the card:

Rescue Cat

Level 4 / Earth / Beast / 300 / 100

Effect: Send this face-up card on your side of the field to the Graveyard to Special Summon 2 Level 3 or lower Beast-Type monsters from your Deck to the field. The monster Special Summoned in this way are destroyed during the End Phase.

Remember the Rescue Cat OTK from a few years ago? (Rescue Cat, 2 Milus Radiant, Last Will, another Rescue Cat, 1 Milus Radiant and a Des Wombat or some Earth Beast with at least 1100 attack) Well, this involves a similar tactic. Not necessarily an OTK or something similar, but a similar mechanic.

The idea? There are several. Using Rescue Cat to get two Tributes to Tribute off for something like Light and Darkness Dragon (and with Gigantes, potentially 4700 points of damage), a Monarch. Using Rescue Cat to fill the Graveyard quickly for Bazoo the Soul-Eater (and possibly Gigantes for potentially 4400 points of damage). You could even try to revive the OTK with the addition of Limit Reverse. Rescue Cat also fuels Green Baboon, Defender of the Forest without having to do too much.

Some monsters to abuse with Rescue Cat:

Des Wombat

Level 3 / Earth / Beast / 1600 / 300

Effect: As long as this card remains face-up on the field, any damage by a card effect to the controller of this card becomes 0.

As far as I know, Des Wombat has the highest attack searchable by Rescue Cat. The anti-Magic Cylinder / other Burn is nice. This gets automatic consideration (mostly for the attack, but still).

Sea Koala

Level 2 / Earth / Beast / 100 / 1600

Effect: Once per turn, if you control another Beast-Type monster, you can reduce the ATK of 1 monster your opponent controls to 0 until the End Phase.

If you summon this thing by Rescue Cat, it's effect is practically automatic as the conditions are pretty much met. You survive Dark Armed Dragon and that thing's still giving you trouble? Not anymore, and this goes for whatever monster you drop to 0 attack. Remember the Catnipped Kitty / Smashing Ground combo? (Catnipped Kitty cuts the defense of your opponent's crappy monster to 0 so you Smashing Ground the good one) This is somewhat of a spin on that except you're attacking. This goes in.

Guard Dog

Level 3 / Earth / Beast / 1500 / 500

Effect: Flip: Your opponent can't perform any Special Summons for the rest of this turn.

You could bring it out with Rescue Cat. It's just a potential target whose attack is close to Des Wombat's. You could also bring it out and Book of Moon it not just to save it but also to maybe (but not likely) give your opponent something to worry about. This one's iffy.

Whirlwind Weasel

Level / Wind / Beast / 500 / 1500

Effect: Flip: Your opponent cannot activate any Spell or Trap Cards for the rest of this turn.

Potential target. Book of Moon it. If your opponent leaves it alone, you could flip this and ensure your monsters live from whatever your opponent may have face-down. If you do something to flip this on your opponent's turn (Desert Sunlight for instance), then you're opponent's pretty much screwed.

Other cards:

Giant Rat

We know what he does and who he is. His use is obvious. Search out Rescue Cat and other pieces. Enough said.

Exiled Force

Don't need to explain this one. Search with Giant Rat, bring out whenever you want. Blow something up without using your Normal Summon.

Pot of Avarice

With all the monster searching sending we'll be doing, we can include maybe two of this if we aren't using Bazoo the Soul-Eater or Gigantes.

Beast Soul-Swap

I should hope you know what this does. It can save your monster or give it another attack (if you use it right). That spells crippling damage.

Limit Reverse

Bring back Rescue Cat, Sea Koala, and Exiled Force for another round of searching, attack reduction, and monster destruction. What more can I say?

With that said, I'm not going to make the deck, but I will give some type of monster line-up that I would use. (This is different than the various ones posted on the forums, but the list just keeps evolving.) Here it is:

3 Giant Rat

2 Rescue Cat

3 Des Wombat

3 Sea Koala

2 Exiled Force

3 Bazoo the Soul-Eater

3 Gigantes

1 Green Baboon, Defender of the Forest

2 Jinzo / pick-a-Monarch / Light and Darkness Dragon

That's 22 monsters. I'll leave the rest to you. I can't do all the work for you, but I'll tell you what. I'll do some deck fixes if that'll make you all happy.

I hope someone can make this idea work and make it into something of a top-tier deck. Maybe someone can pilot it to a championship or some type of fame. Have fun with this people.

Any suggestions, comments, questions, praise (and consequently criticism), and now deck fixes can be sent to: dark destructionv30 (at) yahoo (dot) com (spaces removed, actual at sign and dot in appropriate places). Your comments are greatly appreciated.

Until next time....
